I mean - you tan in the sun - and you have no control about how much exposure you get - other than sunblock. Tanning in a tanning bed has a controlled exposure, right?
Why is tanning in a tanning bed bad, when nothing said about tanning in the sun - isn't the bed safer???
It is "safer" in the way that the the process is more controlled. (Time %26amp; intensity of exposure, less chance of looking like a lobster,etc...) BUT it still damages your skin in the same way. As part of our culture tanning was probably considered healthy because it meant you were active and spent a lot of time in the sun. In early America though it was originally disgraceful because it meant you did manual labor and were lower class.

You just liked his answer because he told you it was safer, but thats a lie, its not safer, its actually much more harmful. Report It
Reply:No! Tanning in the bed is the same as tanning in the sun. Same UVB and UVA rays so of course they are both the same. Bad!
Reply:No. It is still excessive exposure to UV rays, no matter how controlled. There have actually been lots of warnings of sun and tanning exposure, and their links to skin cancers. And, believe me, skin cancer doesn't just mean having the cancerous spot removed. Skin cancers are prone to metastasize, which means they can spread all over your body, including your brain. Skin cancer is bad news, so if you can avoid excessive UV exposure, you should.
Reply:Wrong. Tanning both in the sun and in the tanning bed are both bad. But tanning in the tanning bed can be worse.
Reply:tanning in the tanning bed is bad 4 u! That`s just what i heard.
Reply:They're both very unsafe and will definitely give you premature wrinkles and age spots in a few years and could likely give you skin cancer. However, the tanning bed is much worse than the sun, because it concentrates the light in a few minutes to give you a very unhealthy dose, which is much higher than what you would get from several hours in the sun. Fake tanning is best (the celebrities do it), the tanning bed is the worst, and the sun is not as bad as the tanning bed.
Reply:What do you mean you have no control over the exposure you get in the sun - or that nothing is said about tanning in the sun?! Are you living under a rock? Try sitting in the shade, wearing clothing that covers your skin, avoiding peak times between 10%26amp;2 - or using sunblock. And stay out of tanning beds!
Reply:UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin the UVB rays, most tanning beds combine these rays to get a deep tan.
The UVA levels in tanning beds can be up to 15 times stronger than sunlight, increasing the risk of burning and serious skin damage.
People shouldn't even be spending time tanning in natural sun light.
as little as 15-20 minutes of sunlight on your face is enough to produce an adequate supply of vitamin D for an entire month. In addition, some studies show that tanning can actually break down the existing vitamin D supply in your body.
Reply:well tanning bed will eventualy give you skin cancer the longer u use it the greater risk you have in getting skin cancer and u can put sun block on when you go out in the sun and you've been told not to stay out in the sun to long too but the greater risk is the tanning beds that 's why they mention that more than being out in the sun .
