i am going to go tanning in a little bit..and its the first time in a very long time..and i was wanting to get some color today..is there anything i could do to get some color today?

how long should i go for?

can you put lotion or tanning oil on to tan more quickly?
Tanning tips???
That is HORRIBLE for you skin. Try The Body Shop's FAKE-IT! tanning lotion or mousse. It works great and appears in a few hours after application.
Tanning tips???
The most important thing you can do today is to stay in for a very short time- you don't want to burn. Yes, a very moisturizing tanning accelerator will hydrate your skin and start out your base tan much faster. BUT, stay away from anything with a tingle. Australian Gold makes a very mild accelerator called simply, Australian Gold Dark Tanning Accelerator. The bottle says, Native Oils, Vitamin E %26amp; A. It is very moisturizing. Use A LOT. You don't want to get much color today, on a first visit. Have them set the bed for the full time (usually 20 minutes), ask how new the bulbs are. Very new bulbs and you can burn very quickly, old bulbs and you can stay in longer. At any rate, you want to stay in only 5-10 minutes on a 20 min. bed. The point of having them set it for 20 min, is so that you can start the bed and have it nice and warm while you concentrate on really rubbing the accelerator in and giving it time to absorb into your skin. Also, if you have very fair skin, stay in the 5 minute range, darker you can go the 10. Keep in minf that on future visits, you will be using different beds- all will have different aged bulbs in them. Be sure to ask. You can get a nice base, then go into a bed with new bulbs for the same time as your last visit and still burn because of the newer bulbs. Ask for the SAME bed each time. As you get a good base, ask for a bed w/ newer bulbs and switch to Austrailian Gold Thrust. It is also very moisturizing and will give you VERY smooth skin. It's also important to moisturize you skin like crazy everyday while tanning. Just be sure it doesn't contain a sun screen.
Reply:i just started tanning again and i wanted to get color right away so i just jumped right into an etreme bed. DONT DO IT. now i have ahorrible and painful burn. for instant color try the mystic tan or airbrush tan PLEASE. you dont want to feel what i am feeling right now.

p.s. i posted a question like this just a bit ago about my severe burn, you should check it out to see what im going through.
Reply:Make sure you never go for more than 8 minutes your first time, you don't know if you will get burnt. It may seem like the way to get color fast, but it's not. Build your way up to 15 minutes (or 20 depending on what type of beds they provide at the salon). Don't go into level 3 or 4 beds just yet, they will make you burnt! Wait until your skin has a base tan to go over 10 minutes. There are a lot of good lotions out there, you just really have to find the right one for you. Don't use a tingle or accelerator your first times. Go with a bronzer, that will make you dark, but make sure to wipe your hands afterwards or they will streak. Also, to tan faster, make sure you moisturize your skin at least twice a day. Don't over do it either, go every 2 days and gradually adjust to the right schedule for your skin, just to be on the safe side at first. Hope you get a pretty tan!
