Tanning before vacation.. yes or no?

i am going to puerto rico for spring break in about 3 weeks and i want to get a nice tan while i'm there. i've heard if you don't go tanning before the vacation you will fry. would it be safer to go to a tanning salon before i leave??

Definitely. Go two or three times a week, no more, no less. Do a stand up, starting at like 9 minutes, then work yourself up to 11. You should achieve a base tan, which will make it easier for you to tan in p.r.. Just make sure when you are there to wear sunscreen still, cause the sun is so intense you will still get burned, even if you are tan.

You heard right. If you intend to get a tan during SB and not just really burnt I would go pre-tanning once or twice.
Reply:tanning before you go is definitely a Good idea. do you really want to spend your vacation with a bright red face that hurts. not really. lol so yeah i do it, and it makes the trip better in the long run.

Reply:getting a base tan really only gets you equipped with an spf of about 4...so since the skin needs 30-35 uv protection you do the math. you'll look better sooner no doubt, but i say don't waste your money. any skin type can gradually add pigment if they tan at a level each day that doesn't cause them to burn.
