I need a fast tan!!! prefer to use tanning bed!!! what will help me get the fastest tan?? (ie: oils... etc)?

i need a nice tan by friday!!! what will bring out the fastest tan while tanning in a tanning bed???
I need a fast tan!!! prefer to use tanning bed!!! what will help me get the fastest tan?? (ie: oils... etc)?
A fan assisted tanning booth with tan you the quickest but even if you just use a tanning bed, you will probably be more red than brown as previously said. Prob best using a false tan.
I need a fast tan!!! prefer to use tanning bed!!! what will help me get the fastest tan?? (ie: oils... etc)?
If you use a tanning bed and need a tan by friday, you'll probably end up more red than brown, one of those tanning sprays will give you a beautiful dark tan, many tanning salons do those.
Reply:Do you have skin that will allow you to tan by Friday? If you burn then you may be red by Friday. Make sure you go a little bit each day if it's been a while since your last tan.
Reply:I use speed of light tanning lotion.. But if you havent been tanning in a while your not going to get a dark tan.. I recommend tanning and using the spray tan bed as well.. It will give a nice color and balance ..
Reply:it all depends if you tan good or not...if you do tan well, the first day go for 10 minutes, the 2nd 12, the 3rd 14 and so on and so on. If you dont get burnt you can go every day. The best thing to use to help you get tanner fast is scent free lotion. If you put this on all over your body right before you tan and right after you'll take the color better!
Reply:dude no tanning bed!!! BAAADDDDD!!!try the spray tan that way you wont look like an orenge!!!!!! duH!!!!!!
Reply:Go to a tannaning salon, like LA Tan and do a spray tan. It works well and you don't need to worry about cancer. Their formula is actually really good for your skin.
Reply:Well my sister has gone to a tanning bed for 3 days and is BROWN. And she doesnt tan easily. Get BRONZING lostion. Not just taning lotion. Then go in the highest bed there is (odds are its a BRONZING bed, but if it's not, go into the highest bronzing bed) normally bronzing is the highest but if it isnt, i would suggest finding another place because you need a high bronzing bed. If there arnt an places around you then just go in the bronzing bed. Get BRONZING lotion and a BRONZING bed. Thats what my sis did and she is BROWN! Not really brown, but much much tanner than she was before.
Reply:You need to buy tanning lotion from your local tanning salon, but purchase one that contains a triple bronzer. It will allow you to tan alot faster. You will see results an hour or two after your first tan. I guarantee it. Just don't try and tan to long. You don't wanna burn. Just tan!
Reply:well there is this Jergens lotion you can put on and go sunbathing outside..much safer..andit really does help. Oils just make you shiny and make you belive your getting a tan. I'd pick the darkest of the Jergens Body Glow and sunbathe for only about 45 minutes to an hour. tanning beds harm you more and you lose your money.
Reply:please dont use a tanning bed. you'll end up with so much sundamage that later on in life like in 5 years your skin will just turn to crap. Your also at a higher risk of skin cancer. I cannot believe that in this day and age that people still willingly sunbathe and use sunbeds and solariums! Premature aging is so much harder and more expensive to fix then getting a tan.

Not all spray tans turn you oranage - just the crap brands. Try SunFX. Beautiful tan - no streaks, no orange.
Reply:If you go into the bronzing beds and use the JA Series or anything w/ a tingle factor in it. You can go 10- 20 min. a day depending on your skin and should see something by the 2nd day.

Sun-in and tanning?

I already know how my hair reacts to sun in and all that, I was just wondering if you use sun in and you go tanning at a salon if the tanning beds will effect it at all. I know sun in works by heat, not by uv rays or anything, so I didn't think it would do anything, but I was hoping for personal experience.

I don't usually got tanning, in fact i never have. but I can be in the sun for hours and not get any color, my friend said a salon would probably work for me, and now she's really excited to go, so I can't say no. I know tanning isn't great for your skin, so you don't need to point that out, but I'm not going to make a habit out of it. all I want to know is how, if at all tanning salons effect sun-in.

thanks!
Sun-in and tanning?
Yes i am totally the same way, i can lay out in the sun for HOURS and only get burnt!!! Grrr...however a tanning bed WILL help you get a tan, make sure you buy one of the tanning lotions at the tanning salon (get one with bronzers it helps) and make sure you tell them that this is your first time ever going to a tanning bed, they will only let you tan for about 6 mins, which is more than enough, after about 2 sessions you can go to 8 mins, then 12 and maybe higher (depending on the pressure of the bed)*your tanning salon workers will be able to tell you about all of that and make sure you get a tour of the building to see ALL the beds!* Also Sun-In will work in a tanning bed, more than likely more than the sun, but make sure you use the lotions and wear the little funny goggles (you have to buy for like 2-4 bucks) I LOVE the tanning bed, my tanning salon has built in stereo that you can turn up as loud as you want! :) And the more advanced beds even have neater things like face lights, a button to 'mist' your body with cool water if you get too hot!
Sun-in and tanning?
Yes. There will be A LOT of heat in that tanning booth!!
Reply:Sun-in is probably the worst product you could ever put in your hair.
Reply:Please don't do it.... Sun in is a horrible product. I've seen people who have blistered scalps and orange roots from that stuff.

If your hair reacts naturally, just let it be.
Reply:Tanning beds can ruin your skin! If you want a tan that bad, then you should try Mystic Tanning. Look it up on google or something. Its like a shower thing, that sprays a tanning mist on you, and its not bad for your skin at all. And I hear the results are pretty good. But yes, I've used Sun-In hair color before to, and I would imagine it would turn your hair REALLY blonde, since there's so much heat in those tanning beds, and obviously Sun-In comes in when its in contact with heat..

Tanning Bed?

I love tanning beds, but there are a few things I want to know. I am part cheeroke indian and my mom has fair skin, but I can still tan. But I stopped tanning for awile. Now I am back to white again. I went in for about 15 and my white part dont look burnt :( lol. But its only ben like 20 minutes. I used to burn
Tanning Bed?
Sometimes a burn won't show up for a while. My daughter has Indian in her, she tans well, but still gets burned if she doesn't re-apply sunscreen. I would still continue with only 15min for a few sessions, and use a lotion. They have great lotions with anti-aging agents now! Be sure to only tan once a day and use an after tan moisturizer also. I agree with the previous answerer to keep checking your skin for changes regularly! Best wishes and happy tanning!
Tanning Bed?
Tanning beds aren't good for you...
Reply:You don't and won't always burn. Which is a very good thing. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BURN, TRUST ME. Make sure to put some type of tanning lotion on your skin before you tan. Because your Indian might be why your not always burning. A cooling lotion is also good. Mystic Tan as well. If your tanning make sure to periodically have your skin checked for cancer spots. Good Luck!
Reply:Tanning beds can cause skin cancer

give you wrinkles and moles

Tanning oil?

No you don't, in your tanning oil there should be the least amount of sunscreen you need already in there.

Tanning bed?

How many times do you think i would have to go to the tanning bed to get a "good" or "dark" tan. im alittle tan already. so what you think (im naturally white)

thnx for ur help,

--%26gt; Rachel鈾?br>Tanning bed?
don't go to tanning bed.

just go out to get

natural sunlight

and put at least

spf 30 suntan lotion on.

you don't have to pay for it,

and it is much healthier for your skin.

**** don't tan too much.

later on, your skin will become leather-like,

and the risks of you getting

skin cancer will increase.
Tanning bed?
you probibily need to go about a total of 7-10days, but don't go everyday or you will burn go about every two to three days.

It also depends on how dark you wanna be. If you need it faster ask the tanning places employees for a good tan lotion that will work for what your wanting to do.
Reply:I have a tanning bed. It's my 2nd one. It takes me a week to start to get a color. It depends greatly on the type of lotion you use. Don't use the cheap stuff even though you can't imagine spending 50.00 and up on a tanning lotion. The lotion really does make a difference. There are many websites that offer tanning lotions for 1/2 price of the salons.
Reply:hmmm...

id say you would have to go like 3 or 4 times, no longer then 7 minutes in the bed each time, or you will get burnt.

only go once every 13 or 14 days.
Reply:you shouldnt be using the tanning bed at your age, unless you want to dye of cancer at a younger age just to try and look good now, grow up little 14 year old girl.
Reply:Don't use tanning beds. Your just buying cancer for yourself. Yes it does look nice, but over time when you do it, your skin will get wrinkly. Chicks from my school use tanning beds, been doing it for awhile to get that nice tan, but they stopped because everyone told them they are going to get cancer and wrinkly skin as they get older. Plus my teacher told the class what happened to one of his friends, that she has wrinkly unattractive skin and shes in her 30's.
Reply:it depends but im mexican and it took buy the second one.

and some salons give u stickers like stars and hearts they look really cute.

and wen u get darker they like really nice.

i have a friend who is really white and she said it took her about 4 times to get like 3 shades darker but it all depends on how long u stay in there for.

make sure u have a fan in the bed.

it helps.

and make sure u moisturize

hope this helps.
Reply:u like to ask alot of questions i have no clue bout tanning how should i know idk
Reply:Do not use tanning beds they are so people that want to be Brittany Spears,Lindsay Lohan and those other girls

Tanning question?

i am really fair skinned an i use tanning lotion. but i always wondered becuz i'm going to try and get some sun this summer. would the tanning lotion make it harder for me to tan in the sun?
Tanning question?
no the tanning lotion wont affect your ability to tan in the sun

because sunlight goes under the skin and tans you

whereas tanning lotion just tans the outer layer of your skin
Tanning question?
yes it does take longer, but its a must to wear sun lotion especially if your fair skinned. also if you dont protect your skin whiles being in the sun you tend to peel and your tan doesn't last so long anyway.
Reply:Try the lotion and little sun you will get a better result.Atleast try it.
Reply:yes but fair skinned people can't sun tan it ill make you break out and get burt you are kind of out of luck sorry

Tanning salon deals, coupons etc?

Does anyone know of any deals, coupons, promotional ads ect for tanning salons in the hilliard, columbus ohio area? most of the time the deals are with the chain salons such as tan pro, la tan etc so it could be for anywhere
Tanning salon deals, coupons etc?
I think you should check your paper or maybe stop by the salons themselves and ask if they have specials.

Tanning Help?

I need a tan badly however I dont want to go to the tanning booth because of the risk of skin cancer and I I dont want to age myself faster then I should, I dont get out in the sun alot because I work full time and dont have time. Can someone recommend a good self tanner that looks natural (not orangy) that you were reaaly satisfied with. Thank you
Tanning Help?
The Loreal self tanner works real well, looks natural. I use it all the time and have not had any problems at all. Make sure to Loofah your skin before putting it on, the color goes on more evenly. Very smart choice to stay out of the sun! My brother in law passed away at the age of 44 from Melanoma skin cancer.
Tanning Help?
Neutrogena makes a great tanner and it won't break you, either. Make sure to follow the directions so you don't get that weird tan line. I suspect you are very light-skinned so pick a light shade to get a base before you go to darker tan. I tried the mist but it wasted so much, then I tried using a cotton ball around the "line" areas to kinda blur it and that worked great. Also be sure to wash your hands good after you put it on.
Reply:You can get an airbrush tan at the salon. It gives great color and lasts a while. Or you can go to Walgreens and get the Jergens self tanning lotion. The only down side to the lotion is it smells like you just got out of the tanning bed. Hope this helps.
Reply:i would go with a airbrushed tan about 19.95 here and lasts for about 3 days
Reply:Actually, what is wrong with your natural color? I used to be a sun/tanning bed addict - no longer due to melanoma, however, I've come to terms with and learned to love (well, at least like) the color I am. I couldn't subject myself to all the sunless tanners and spray on stuff because it just doesn't look natural (as is the case with people who overdo it in tanning beds as well).
Reply:I used Banana Boat this past summer and I really liked it. It was natural looking and didn't smell as bad as others I've tried.

Tanning questions!!!!! need help!!!?

I am going to hawaii in about a week, I don鈥檛 want to go out there looking like casper the friendly ghost, I live in an area where there is not a lot of sun. So I thought a tanning bed would be great. I need to get a nice tan in about a week, how is the best way to do it in the tanning bed?? I have really fair sensitive skin. What types of lotions should I use and how long should I go. For example like the first day 5 min, the second day 7 mins and so on?? I don鈥檛 want to get burnt! Thanks for all your help!!
Tanning questions!!!!! need help!!!?
It is perfectly fine for you to tan every day at a salon. If you are fair skin start with a 7 minut bed after you've gotten a base tan move on to the 13 minute beds for a week and once you are dark enough then you are okay. Tanning is not as bad as people say so dont buy that load of crap. Tanning smart helps you reduce sunburn.. and what causes skin cancer ??? SUNBURN.. people just talk about how bad it is b/c they are uneducated on the subject.. here check out this site it will give you information on safe tanning http://www.tanningtruth.com/ . Talk to someone at your salon about how many minuts they think you should do because i dont know your skin type and they will be able to give you all of that information. Good Luck and have fun in hawaii
Tanning questions!!!!! need help!!!?
u do realize how many people on here are gunna tell u how bad tanning is right...ok just checking. if uve never tanned before u shouldnt go every day u will most likely burn ir u are really pale. u generally cant use sunscreen because it damages the inside of the tanning bed. they sell lotions u can use at the salons but they can be pricey. u should start off going for 5 min and see how u do with that. gradually go up by 1 min if u dont burn but if u do burn u need to go in for less time obv. u will not be able to get a dark tan in 1 week of tanning because u shouldnt be going everyday to begin with but u will build a base tan so u dont get super fried in hawaii. use bronzer and sunless tanning lotions as well as tanning..thats what i do and i dont have to use beds often to keep the tan i have..i use trueblue spa sunless tanner from bath and body works..its the best!! it doesnt make u orange and it doesnt smell like @ss like most sunless tanners do!!

Girls who go tanning, questionnnn...?

P.S. Those of you who want to preach about not going to a tanning salon, don't waste your time. Thanks.

P.P.S. Don't recommend self tanners, I've used them and they are a hassle.

ANYWAYS:

I am very fair and want to go tanning to develop some color. I don't want to be orange a la Pamela Anderson or Paris Hilton. I just want to be a little bit darker and have glowy skin. I hate how pale I look in the summer when I go swimming, especially my legs. Icky.

I don't tan easily...

so MY QUESTION IS how often would I need to go tanning to keep my light tan and how long would it take to develop it in the first place?!?

THANK YOU!
Girls who go tanning, questionnnn...?
you need to start out slow since you have fair skin. You should probably go every other day for a couple weeks to get a base tan and then every 2 or 3 days after that to keep it. The only reason why those people turn orange is bc they go everyday of the year and use those dark tanning lotions...

As long as you don't do that, you should have a nice color to ya...
Girls who go tanning, questionnnn...?
I go twice every week. after going 3 times I saw results.
Reply:WELL....

When I went to PEI I tanned every day for 3 days for about 20 minutes. by the end of the third day, I was a light light light brown, so I tried one more day and this time I added 10 more minutes, so I tanned for 30 minutes. This left me with a light and gorgeous brown. It works for me every time!
Reply:i would say 2 or 3x a week...%26amp; about 3-4 weeks to develop a good color...
Reply:ok well start out slow do 3 times a week.and dont stay in for to long because it can be to harsh. i started out at 10 minutes and then add some time. then u will get a great tan that will last a while and look good
Reply:Hey, I just read your Question.

This isn't actually my account but I noticed your question while my sister was on here. I work in a tanning salon, and I know quite a bit about it. I understand that you don't want to try self tanners, as many of them do make you go orange. There is a self tanner bed called "california tan's UV free tan". It's really good and goes by level of height rather than choosing what colour you want to be. It goes on by level of height so that it sprays the correct amount of solution onto your skin, making you 2-3 shades darker, rather than getting too much on your skin and turning orange.

If you would still rather not go the "spray tan" route, you should check out different tanning salons in your area. Some tanning salons offer "bronzing" tanning beds. They have a higher concentration of UV-B rays, making you more brown, instead of a higher amount of UV-A which tends to make you get a reddish colour to your skin. The bronzing beds are usually a little more pricey than regular beds, but the outcome is much better and you won't have to tan as much, costing you less in the long run.

To develop a base it usually takes between 5-10 sessions, and to keep that up you should go about every 1-2 weeks. Just so you're aware, you shouldn't tan every day and should tan every other day instead to avoid over-exposure occuring in your skin. Another thing that will speed up the process of your tan is to get a good lotion. California Tan makes the best lotions as they boost your tan, and have active skincare ingredients in them as well. Try an indoor tanning lotion that has a bronzer in it for immediate results. I suggest California Tan's "Karma Sutra" line, or the "Dark Sexy Tan" line. They're both really good lotions and should get you to your tanning destination very shortly.

I hope it works out well for you sweety. :)

I need a tan!! Tanning bed or Creams?

I usually get one from working in the yard, but it's rained for days and days. My tan is fading and I am going on a fishing trip in a month. What can I do to get a tan. Tanning bed? Tanning cream? Which is best? Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed.
I need a tan!! Tanning bed or Creams?
You should use a tanning cream. The best way is to go to a tanning salon that offers the spray on tan. Not only are you saving your skin from cancer but also you won't get wrinkles so young as you age. Good luck.
I need a tan!! Tanning bed or Creams?
get a spray tan from the tanning place
Reply:banna boat self tanner
Reply:you dont need a tan. tans are a risk of skin cancer. just like who you are the way you are already.
Reply:spray tans becuz that ages the skin

i know im black how would i know becuz i have white friends who have been tanning since freshmean year and now its senior yr and they look like they r in there 30s
Reply:how but don't get a tan you will have tan lines, tanning bed is bad for your skin just wait out the rain, you'll be happy ot rains because it ain't raining here and it is fricken hot
Reply:Depends on if you want possible cancer and wrinkled skin when you get older. If you dont care...then tanning bed.

There are some great tanning creams out there that wont leave you orange. Jergens medium tan works great for lighter and dark skin without the orange. Just make sure you exfoliate your skin to death before using it or you can have darker areas where you have more dead skin....like your ankles, hands, knees and elbows!
Reply:Do you want to get cancer? Are you just asking for it?

Dont go to a tanning bed. Its just as bad as sun bathing.

You can use a cream, but they get streaky or become uneven.

Get a spray on, but not like Ross on Friends, a hand one.

A professional will do it. Go in a bra and underwere and they will spray it on you. it looks natural, last longer, safer, and it doesnt cost to much more.

Good Luck! Hoped i helped !
Reply:I've tried all three and I would recommend a spray tan any day.I've tried going to a tanning salon a few times, but each time I've gone, my skin has been really itchy for a couple of days afterwards.

With a cream you need to be able to put on evenly, which can be really hard especially aroundthe elbows, knees etc and if you put too much on one spot you really can notice it and become that orange colour.

I would recommended the spray tan, cause it's a lot cheaper then going to a sun bed, and it is so quick and easy not to mention easy. Also the beauician can recommened what colour exactly will suit you too.
Reply:wait for it to stop raining because its safer to buy creams and tan at the beach or at you lawn
Reply:I wouldn't use a tanning bed, cuz your skin can get really wrinkley when your older. Maybe a spray like some other answerer said or cream. Or use a lotion like Jergens natural skin tan.
Reply:Tanning beds work really well, but I think its better to use tanning creams because then you don't have the risk of skin cancer. Tanning creams can also work really well (almost as good as tanning beds.)

But, whatever you do DONT get a spray on. My sister got one and she looked like a pumpkin. Then when she went outside, it melted off.

TANNING SALON...how do i avoid being orange?

what can i do 2 make sure i dont come out orange or burnt....this is my first time tanning...i have pale skin and just want a base tan...i tend to break out too (not from tanning just in general)...i usually only burn on my cheeks and nose naturally....any other tips would be great!! THANKS
TANNING SALON...how do i avoid being orange?
Tanning booths do not turn you orange, because they are closer to natural tanning, and your salon should have a test spray tan for first timers. They spray an area of your body which is not noticeable, but not dangerous for you, like your wrist or maybe the inside of your thigh. You can get a variety of colors with spray tanning, and it doesn't leave stripes or spots on your skin afterwards. If you like the color from the test, you can get full body spray tans in that color.
TANNING SALON...how do i avoid being orange?
You have to start out gradually and make sure you buy a decent lotion. You get what you pay for.
Reply:At the tanning place they will try to sell you a "bronzing lotion" if your pale, then you dont want this, your skin will turn out uneven with brownish orange splotches all over, Get a level one lotion W/ NO BRONZER or NIACIN, tell them you just want a level 1 lotion, And only go in the bed for about 5 minutes and do this about 2-3 times a week and eventually up your minutes, you will have a very natural look in about 3 weeks.
Reply:if you are fair skinned, only tan for a few minutes (like 5 or 6) talk to the person who works there and ask what he or she suggests. Sometimes they have new bulbs in the beds, and you will need to adjust your time accordingly. If you go for 6 minutes once a week for two or three weeks you can safely build a base tan.

I go once a week, and I usually will cover my face with a towel or my shirt for the first few minutes I am in the bed, that way you get the max time on the rest of your body without over exposing your face.

Also, don't use tanning lotion on your face if you break out.
Reply:use tanning accelerators with sunscreen and don't stay in too long the first time GO SLOW

Is there a tanning lotion that really works and one that won't stain your clothes directly after tanning?

I'm looking for a tanning lotion that doesn't leave a stain on the tanning towel or my clothes after my tanning session. Obviously because when I go to a tanning salon I can't wait very long to get into my clothes, and I don't want to ruin their towels. I recently purchased a Tattoo brand one, but have yet to try it since it hasn't come in the mail yet. I'm looking for other options incase this one doesn't work out, since I forgot about stains when I purchased it.

Thank you!

i'm not sure about tanning lotion. but i heard that sally hansen spray stuff is really good and doesn't stain much at all. or try tanning beds! =]
Reply:I use good ol' cocoa butter. It's great for after tanning. And makes you smell like a cookie!

Hope that helps.
Reply:The best lotions to buy for a tanning bed are the ones for sale at the salon. (the more expensive the better) The girls there will be able to tell you which ones will not stain. I have never had this problem and I have been tanning for years.

Tanning while on concerta?

my daughter is taking concerta 36mg a day. her doctor said that she needs to go to a tanning bed to help with her mood swings. I have never heard of a doctor telling somebody to go to a tanning bed especially when they are on a medication. should I make her a tanning appointment she is only 11 years old
Tanning while on concerta?
Actually the UV lighting increases the production of melanin, which can indeed improve your daughter's mood. If you're worried about the tanning aspects though, you could try getting her an OTT lamp (available at department stores) or an all-natural light lamp that provides rays similar to the sun outdoors.
Tanning while on concerta?
no i wouldnt. i would consult another doctor. because tanning does not help with mood swings. so call around and ask a couple doctors their oppinions. especially if she's 11.

Tanning beds?

Alright, i'm going to be having three ten minute sessions in a tanning bed over the next week so I can look nice for an upcoming event :)

My question is how dangerous are tanning beds really are? What can a few sessions do to your skin? Etc. etc.

I really DON'T want you to answer if you don't know something for sure or if it's not backed up by scientific research yadda yadda yadda. Answers like 'wow you are SOOOOO stupid thats so bad for you your going to look like an old prune by the end of the week cause tanning beds ARE THAT BAD FOR YOU!' or 'Don't worry a thing there's absolutely nothing wrong with it at all!'

I just want an factual, valid answer and not some bias b/c i've got people telling me that the danger is greatly overexaggerated and that the danger is real.

I've been using tanning beds for 20 years so I feel I have reliable advice.

If you only want a tan once in a while I don't see you having much trouble if you are careful. I think the most important thing is not to get burned, no matter if you are in the sun or using a bed. It is better to build up to a tan gradually, when you go for your first tan, ask the attendant to use the minimum amount of time (you said 10 min, try 9) and also read all the warnings regarding fragrances, medications etc. That way you will be able to see how sensitive you are to tanning bed light. Next time if all is good add one minute, and then increase from there. After you get the color you want, going once a week should maintain your new tan. Use a good moisturizer before and after each tan session. If you only do 3 sessions without a burn you will be fine.

I have relatively fair freckled skin and have used a tanning bed an average of 2 times a week during the winter and less during the summer. I have had a few burns from using the bed (new bulbs, reaction to medication). After decades of sunning (in the sun and beds) my skin is rather damaged now, wrinkles and white spots, especially on my back. I also experienced my first skin cancer on my face. I can't blame it on the tanning bed completely as I spent most of the summers growing up in the sun, and getting burned.

My advice is to be careful, it is true that all the burns in you life add up later on. There are great self tanners now ( I am now going to use them) and for just a special occasion once in a while you might experiment with a spray tan too.

skin cancer. i thought about tanning beds and i was in health class and learned how bad it was and the new seventeen magazine for july has tons of facts try the website seventeen.com and nowdays those self tanning sprays are very advanced so dont worry about turning orange just dont overdo it
Reply:Ok, my mom goes to a tanning bed for 20 minutes each session. Its really better for you than lay out because the sun has harmful rays that the tanning bed doesn't! I did think that tanning beds were going to give you skin cancer, which there is a risk of getting, and I said i was claustrophobic! But I left the top up and I was fine!!! Hope this Helps!
Reply:ucan get skin cancer from iy but when u think about it ur doing a tottaly amount of 30min in a tanning bed which equals about 24hours in the sun.
Reply:Well....i don't have any particular links.

I can / will only speak form experience:

I go to tanning beds every now and then mainly for any upcoming events and stuff like that.

I have pretty fair (light complexion) skin.

I don't really tan quickly i burn (if I'm out in the sun)

BUT...when i go to the tanning beds after a while of NOT getting any "sun" [considering I've tanned in the sun /beds before]...A good 2-3 visits does the trick.

But i might sure i moisturize (my face especially) after tanning %26amp; showering. Because it can make me look a little shaffy / plastic-ish.

**Other than that you should be fine.**

Oh...and don't use the highest bulbs or the full amount of time in the tanning beds either...their really not necessary ESPECIALLY if you don't tan that often.

(i usually start with 8min. then 9. then 10)

P.s-Another tip: Put SPF 15 /30 on your tender spots (like: moles /certain blemishes or birthmarks....%26amp; around ur nips It prevents them from getting a little dark permanantly if their lite.

Hope it helps...Have fun at ur dance.
Reply:Well if you are very pale and haven't been in the sun, 10min will fry you in the tanning bed. Please talk with someone there before getting in. They normally talk with everyone. And tanning beds are just as bad as the sun.

Tanning This Summer?

I want a really good tan this summer, how would I get one?I for some reason I dont tan...why is that?Like I stay the same (ghost white) all summer long, and I hate it. Why Does This happen to me and what can I do about it? anything? I know tanning isn't good for you, but thats not my question. :-/ Plz HELP!! THANKS! ~cookiedough~
Tanning This Summer?
go to mystic tan or use jergen's daily.

if you know tanning isn't good for you, why would you do it? thats the definition of ignorant, right there. you'll be singing a different tune when you get skin cancer. i know i never thought anything of it until a best friend of mine got sick. Grow up and be a responsible adult. Care about yourself and your health, for god's sake
Tanning This Summer?
well, you can use tanning oil. that always helps. and when you go out put only one layer of sunscreen on otherwise it basically repells the sun. and also on your face use something like SPF 15 because 30 will block the sun from your face.
Reply:Judging by your avatar, it doesn't seem as if you already have a tan. Isn't it funny how people of bland skin want to take on the characteristics of other races for a brief moment? Would you like to be this color all the time??
Reply:u can go to the beach or a pool and jus lay there and relax but make sure u wear lotion u dont want to get skin cancer.=]
Reply:Cookiedough,

Your skin most likely has low levels of melanin and will never tan. Sorry. It's a genetic fact of life you'll have to learn to live with. The self tanning lotions have become very good over the last several years though, are inexpensive, and are safe. Try the Loreal products. The Loreal Sublime Bronze face towlettes are great. For the body, try the Loreal Sublime Glow lotion. Neither have a strong odor, and their light scent is pleasant. Neither will turn you a freakish orange color like the old self-tanners did. The downside is that you will have to use them throughout the summer to keep the color, and you will need someone to put the lotion on your back if you want to be tan there.

Good luck!
Reply:If you are pale, then your skin pigmentation is not as easy to tan, and probably burns whenever you try to tan. If you are pale all through the summer, then the answer is simple- you are not going to tan by laying in the sun. Your pigmentation would not support it.

I am pretty dark, myself, and I worked in a tanning salon for years. However, my dermatologist finally convinced me to switch over to sunless options, and I love it!

You should pick up a sunless tanner made for fair skin. After using it every day for a week, you'll have a pretty decent tan. Once the first week is over, you can use the tanner two times a week to maintain a nice dark color.

I use Aveeno. They have a great new product that I just switched to that allows you to set on a dial what color you'd like to achieve. Since I am already really dark, I use a darker formula to continue getting more of a tan. Because you are lighter, you can turn it to a lighter setting and build your way up.

Here is a link to it, it's pretty cheap, and you can maintain a really nice tan all year long!

Don't worry about turning orange either, as long as you don't go overboard with the tanner, you'll have a beautiful summer glow!

Tanning Beds?

Does someone who doesn't tan much in the sun have a better chance of tanning in a tanning bed?
Tanning Beds?
you will tan the same amount as you would in the sun. you could probably end up tanning more by going every day for small amounts of time. that's what my really pale friend did before her prom. (she got a 60 anytime minutes for a set price %26amp; would go every day for 6 minutes)

also, some tanning salons have higher powered (%26amp; way more expensive) beds which use mainly uva rays (the shorter "tanning" rays that effect only melanin in the skin %26amp; do not burn it), which will make you tan a lot faster %26amp; supposedly are less dangerous than standard beds.

i know there's one called the magic at my tanning salon %26amp; i've seen people go from white to mexican-looking in 3 12-minute sessions, so i think it is worth the $32 per session (comes out to less if you buy a package or something) to use it
Tanning Beds?
I don't think so because the melanin in your skin has to do with how much you tan, you will probably burn, also tanning beds are very unhealthy.
Reply:not really, if u don`t tan well or burn in the sun, it will most likely be the same in a bed...
Reply:dont go to tanning beds their seriously bad for you you can like get cancer...and yea dont do them get some ''bronzing cream'' and the store its like lotion and it will give you a tan or go out and sit in the sun.
Reply:you should not use tanning beds because they ruin your skin and there are so many risks to it!!!

your better off just putting some sun-tan lotion on and sitting outside for a bit in the summer!!
Reply:well you'll burn a lot less that's for sure, because the bed does not have all the bad rays the sun does

Tanning bed question!?

ok, so i'm going to a tanning salon tonight (please spare me the whole omg ull get skin cancer, self tanner is better) this is my 3 time going ever and i wanna just try to get a base tan

the girl said that the bed is a 14 minute bronzing bed. What is a bronzing bed? thanks!
Tanning bed question!?
Hmm, first of all, everyone loves a nice glow, so there's no shame in going to a tanning bed. :) bronze it up!! But when i used to use tanning beds, this is what i'd do ,

First, apply tanning cream about an hour before you go

second, ask for about 15 minutes in the low bed.

I'm not too sure what the bronzing bed is, but 15 minutes sounds about good! Make sure to ask about lotions, to see if they're required. Also, make sure to ask about eyeball coverer-thingies!! Good luck and have fun. :)
Tanning bed question!?
Riley,

It seems that it's just a name...bronzing bed or tanning bed...I believe are inter-changeable.

Have a great tanning session!

Reply:What a bronzing bed is just to get you bronzed. just like it sounds. if you dont have a base tan then its best to go shorter periods of time first so you wont tan and make sure that you have lotion on.
Reply:i agree with the girl below me, there is nothing wrong with being tan wether you get it from the sun, bottle or bed!

anyway back to your question, the bronzing bed is one of the better tanning beds to use in the salons. In a regular tanning bed you get kind of red and blotchy, in the bronzing bed you get a bronze tan- no red involved. i personally recommend going into the bronzing bed if you want a base tan.

i would also recommend buying a lotion, it makes the tan color increase and it keeps the tan longer.
Reply:All I was going to say is tanning looks great, but in 10 to 15 years you'll look like your old . The tanning drys your skin and after a while you look ugly and old.

How to use tanning beds for the first time?

Im a guy in high school and in the winter months I can tend to get pasty and I have decided to use a tanning bed for the first time? I dont really care what people will think about it because I would rather be tan then be pale. How should I go about tanning for the first time. I dont want to be totally tan, I just want to have a kind of a glow if that makes since. How often should I go to the tanning beds and for how long?
How to use tanning beds for the first time?
Normally when you go to a tanning salon the person(s) working there help with how long you should lay. Ask for their opinion based on your complexion. Tell them that you do not want the deep-brown look, but want a base tan, just something to get started and build on if necessary. Also, it might help if you buy some sort of tanning lotion. They offer numerous products at the salon, they are bit steap, but usually help you tan faster. Hope this helps!
How to use tanning beds for the first time?
Just start out slow and work your way up to the full time. If you are worried about your skin you can try a misting booth that just sprays lotion all over your body and it gradually turns darker. I have a tanning bed and in the winter time, it takes away my winter blues.
Reply:Go to a tanning place (I prefer the stand up tan booths) Let them know it's your first time...they will know by your skin tone how long you should go in for. Also, you can buy pkgs. of tanning lotion made for the tan beds/booths.....it helps keep your tan going ...Do Not Shower or Bath for at least 4hrs after you tan. I would recommend once every 5-7days for a bit until you have the glowing tan you want....then just once every 10-14 days to keep it going.

Keep on SMilin*
Reply:you should go to a proper tanning place and they tell you what to do! its really easy!! And i would rather be tan then pale too!!
Reply:i use to go for a tan in a tanning bed, but, you have to check in your area - for spray - on tanning. it works and no cancer scare. no bright lights or sweating. it will get paler in 3 mths. you have to have this done at a tanning place. takes no time to spray your front and back sides. boop
Reply:I have been tanning on and off for the last 3 years and I found that when I started, my greatest source of help was the owner of my tanning salon. She really helped me make sure that I was doing everything correctly and helped me to get the exact look I wanted.

Your first step is to find a reputable tanning salon. Make sure that they clean the beds after each client, are friendly and knowledgeable (If there's a question you ask that they can't answer, then go somewhere else). You'll need to purchase eye protection and lotion. If you tend to have dry skin, you will want to purchase some moisturizing lotion, too. (I use lotions with hemp.)

The amount of time that you will stay in the bed for the first time depends on many thing: how long ago the tanning salon changed the bulbs, what kind of bed they are using (some have more UVA than UVB and that all makes a difference), and how much pigmentation you already have.

Here's a good site that might help answer some of your questions: http://www.californiatan.com/tanning/bas...

Honestly, though, your best bet is to find a good tanning salon and talk to the people that work there. They'll be an invaluable help to you!
Reply:well im very pasty and for the fist couple of times u have to go like everyday for 6 min. to get a base tan then go like everyother or everythree days to keep your glow and u should buy some tanning bed lotion because that helps the tan sink in your skin better if that makes since

Tanning and facials! please help?

Do you go outdoors alot? If you do, you need to stay indoor a while! It will cool you down. But if you want to go outdoors, make sure to put at least a 15 SPF sunblock on! ( Put some chapstick with 15 SPF.... That helps your lips, too! )

Tanning...hm?

I know everyone tans nowadays, but I wish you people would rethink it. My friend got diagnosoed with skin cancer, and it's probably the most terrible thing I've ever heard. I feel so bad, there's nothing i can do. She went tanning only about twice a week in the tanning salon, BUT this still happened. Really guys, not a good idea. I don't think you want to see your friends get skin cancer like my friend. I've never seen her more vulnerable than she is now.
Tanning...hm?
I agree.
Tanning...hm?
When you tan you can burn from the burning rays from sunlight or even the artificial light that is in tanning salons.

After you finish burning and your skin starts to darken. That is your skin warning you that you have damaged it.

People think they look healthier with tanned skin, when in fact they are ruining your skin. You may not be able to see the dammage you have caused while young...early 20s let's say, unless you get under a special lamp called a woods lamp.

However, when you are 40 or older you will see all these ugly sun spots showing up around your face.

Tanning also causes severe wrinkling. There is NOTHING worse than a 50 or 60 year old woman walking into my salon/spa with paper thin skin and all sorts of sun damage from many years before. It looks absolutely awful.

Had she taken care of herself in the early years she would look 20 years younger.

Skin cancer is also the most easily to prevent of all cancers. USE YOUR SUNBLOCK. Several times a day. Even if you are sitting next to a window and it is a cloudy day, put a sunblock on with at least 15 spf. A lot of cosmetics have the sunblock already in them.

Really girls, for your own sake, stop tanning. You can say you don't care what you look like later down the road, but I can promise you, you will!
Reply:Wow I m never goin 2 tan at the taning salon now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe Srry bout ur frend is she ok?????????????????

Tanning bed questions.....?

i've been going to the tanning bed for about 2 weeks (starting with 5 minutes and now at 12 minutes).. i have a very small mole between my breasts..today while i was tanning the mole started to hurt and its still hurting even after an hour... whats wrong with it? how can I keep it from hurting tomorrow when i go to tan?
Tanning bed questions.....?
Possibly, and this may seem like a really extreme idea, you should skip going to the tanning booth. Your body is obviously trying to tell you something, so listen to it. If you were a jogger and you suddenly found that you had severe chest pain every time you ran, you wouldn't say, "how can I diminish the pain so that I can keep jogging?" You would simply stop jogging until you went to the doctor.

So, don't go to the tanning bed until you get that pain checked out.
Tanning bed questions.....?
I had the same problem. I started putting sunblock on that mole and other big ones and it's not bugging me anymore.
Reply:why in the hell did you decide to do that???? you should know how bad it is for you.
Reply:The mole is probably just more sensitive to the sun, and now maybe it's burned. Try putting a little sunblock on the mole next time you go. Also keep a close watch on it. If it changes color or gets bigger it could be skin cancer. Then you should see a dermatologist.
Reply:Cover it up when you tan and keep a close eye on it. If the mole changes shape or color definitely see a doctor!!!! The ultra violet bulbs may be irritating it for some reason. It may have gotten burned. Hop I helped!!!

Tanning Help?

I tan everywhere except on my shinns. Is it becasue i shave everyday? I don't tan in tanning boths or at home, i lay on the beach.
Tanning Help?
Maybe you should try exfoliating your legs and day or two

before tanning. Also you could try the new air brush tans that

come in a small bottle and just use it on your shins..Sally

Hensen makes a great looking airbrush tan that you just spray

on and it dries in minutes.

I don't think it's because you shave every day b/c i do the same and my chins are tanned..but make sure ur shaving before tanning, and if your not than that's probably ur problem =]

this all depends on your skin type and what salon you are going too....the more tans you want in the package the better the deal they will give you, if you just get lets say 10 tans it will cost more per tan then say if you got a package for 30....um when you do go tanning make sure to get the products from them behind their counter to make your tanner happen quicker/last stronger/ and be deeper...dont go for 20 mins in a bed if you burn at all or havent been tan since summer, you need to build up. but it wont take that long to get a nice tan just be careful there not safe uv wise/cancer wise and you can get a nice bacteria infection or crabs (pubic lice) from being in their naked so wear that bikini hunny!

If you have broke out with bumps all over your body after one application, I don't think I would use it again. The reaction might be worse the second time you use it. I know you say you don't have any money, but if it is important to you maybe you can borrow from someone enough to buy "Hemp" at Wal-mart and it works very quickly, in three days you will notice a difference with no lines or streaks!! Ofcourse, if that is the product that broke you out I wouldn't use it.

Tanning in the tanning bed?

This might sound stupid,

but when tanning in the bed can you still get a sunburnt?

I'm fairly light, and I usually tend to sunburn then get a tan.
Tanning in the tanning bed?
Unfortunately, you can still get sunburned from a tanning bed.

In order to prevent my clients from getting overexposed, I usualy take the following precautions.

1) I carefully analyze their skin type. If they are fair skinned with freckles, we start their tanning sessions at a very low time. Someone with medium skin, however, can usually have a higher exposure time. Same goes for those with Hispanic heritage or Mediterranian heritage.

2) We discuss their ability to tan outdoors. If the client can gradually build a tan outdoors, then they will likely have success from our salon. We talk about how their skin reacts to the sun and how or if it turns red, etc.

3) We choose a high quality indoor tanning lotion. These products will improve their ability to absorb UV by up to 80%. While there is no SPF or protection from burning, this product will give my client a deeper, darker, and more healthier looking tan.

4) Eyewear. Eyewear. Eyewear. I do not allow a client to go back to their tanning room without protective eyewear. Exposing your eyes (eyelids provide NO proctecion. neither do cotton balls, towels, or coins) to UV light can cause irreversible eye damage and possible blindness.

5) Start tanning! My first time client will then be taken back to their tanning room and given a tour of the equipment. I will show them all of the controls to the unit and how to adjust the fans and the music. I make sure that the client is comfortable with the exposure time and then they are ready to tan.

It is with these tools that I believe that I am offering each and every client a healthier and smarter tanning session.

Happy Tanning!
Tanning in the tanning bed?
Yes, you could easily get sunburned if you have fair skin. The key to tanning in a bed is to work your way up to staying in the bed longer this will help prevent getting burnt. For example if you have very fair skin you should start off with 6 minutes then work your way up.
Reply:im also fairly light, when you first go on there you may be red but the next day you will appear browner, i usually go there when it is dark so no one can see me.
Reply:you most certainly can get burnt in a tanning bed.
Reply:Solarium is a better choice than the sun for people who tend on receiving sunburn. Apply suncare lotion prior to using the tan bed, to diminish the possibility of sunburn. If you have light skin and you are planning on using the tan bed for the first time, I suggest you have your first session no longer than ten minutes, due to blemishes may appear on your skin and you may risk fainting yourself. After two sessions of tanning you can gradually increase the session period. This may take you six sessions (eighty minutes) to obtain a dazzling and good-looking tan.

Are high pressure tanning bed visits worth the money?

First of all, please spare me the whole "tanning is bad for you" talk... I already know. With that said, There is this insane looking high pressure 360 degree tanning bed where I tan, and it's 30 bucks per visit. Has anyone used these before? The lady says that they don't really produce the burning UV rays, so it isn't the bed to give you a base tan (because it doesn't have much of the burning UV rays). She said it has mostly "bronzing" rays, and I'll see immediate results.

I'm going to see my husband graduate from Army basic training on May 16th, and I want to look as dark as possible. I've gotten my base tan... so are these high pressure beds good? Are they worth it?
Are high pressure tanning bed visits worth the money?
If you do I would wait until the night before you see him to do it. They do really produce a tan but it tans mainly the top layer (BRONZING) so you will see more color immideatly then with a regular bed but the tan wont last as long. So I would say keep going in the regular and then do the super right before you see him. Hope that helps??!!
Are high pressure tanning bed visits worth the money?
i wouldn't use them! just 2 tell u the truth....

%26amp;%26amp; i tan naturally but not a lot. i't looks pretty hott 2 during the summer. sorry if this is not what u wanted 2 hear so good luck! ;)

oh... %26amp;%26amp; btw ~ "immediate results" can mean "orange results" ~ believe me on this.... my cousin used 2 work in a tanning salon(or whatever)
Reply:You ask are they worth it?

Guess it depends if being vain is more important than dying of cancer. Your call...
Reply:I don't think they are worth it. Be good to your skin because if your not, it will show sooner instead of later.

Use a quality lotion and you will have that GLOW when you see your man.

Tanning bed help!!!?

ive been recently going to a tanning salon. beautiful color on my upper body, but my legs are still really pale!!! i have no idea why...is it just my legs or the tanning booth?? by the way i use the stand-up...also does anyone have a problem that their underarms are WHITE?? am i supposed to raise my arms when i tan???
Tanning bed help!!!?
Legs are harder to tan, mainly because if you shave your legs, you are basically exfoliating the skin you've tanned. To help, make sure you use a tanning lotion specifically for legs such as Matahari's Dark Sexy Legs, and make sure to apply a very good moisturizer after tanning and after each bath or shower!

If you use the stand up booth, yes you are supposed to raise your arms, otherwise you won't tan under your arms! The booth should have handles for you to hold onto!
Tanning bed help!!!?
Get a natural sun tan and you won't have to worry about it.
Reply:in a stand up put your arms up but only like 1/2 the time dont want burned pits. my legs do the same thing try a tanning lotion with a bronzer just on your legs so they can catch up.

Tanning on a trampoline?

I have a black trampoline in my back yard and from around 11am-2pm, its in direct sunlight. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to tan on there. i have a big beach towel to lay on. what time would be the best to go out to get a tan, if tanning on there is a good idea.

or would it be better to lay on a fold-out chair in the grass or on wood, like a deck?
Tanning on a trampoline?
ooo tanning on there is reallly good i jsut got mad tan today by doing that!
Tanning on a trampoline?
it doen't matter but do it all at once be careful though!
Reply:Sure, lay out on your trampoline. But make sure to keep the towel under you and keep track of how long youre out there... Since the trampoline is black, it attracts alot more sunlight than being poolside would. So you might get burned easier. Good Luck! XO!
Reply:If you are going to go out and Tan. The sun rays can still hit your skin even if there are clouds in the way. The black on the trampoline will attract the sun better than wood.

I would say to go out with the sunlight but before it gets to warm.

Also I recommend using a mild sunblock to prevent burning and aid a nice tan:)
Reply:yeah its a good idea, but it can get really hot because of the black, like a blacktop playground.

Tanning hints?

it is very hot here and i am going to be tanning outside. I was wondering if putting bab oil on my skin will really give me a better tan? Is there anything else that can give me a nice tan fast?
Tanning hints?
best tanning hint...................don't do it. You will expose yourself to the risk of skin cancer not to mention having leathery looking skin and wrinkles later in life. Go get a professional spray tan. they look great when done right
Tanning hints?
try wetting ur face and letting the sun dry out the water and when that happens, u burn and after the burn comes tan.
Reply:make sure your skin is mositurized, you can also buy a bronzer, or tanning lotion from a tanning salon, to help you get a deeper, quicker tan.
Reply:When I was young, way back when, we used baby oil and iodine. You can get iodine at your pharmacy. Shake it real good until it emulsifies. Watch that sun though.
Reply:DO NOT USE BABY OIL!

It can cause you to get a burn that you would not believe!!!

Not to mention this horrible burn could cause you to get psoriasis which will stick with you for the rest of your life!

Use any of the billion OUTSIDE tanning lotions that have a base spf of about 4-8.

Use outside lotions outside, and the inside lotions for the inside tanning beds.

my personal faves are the banana boat ones. They smell great, make your skin feel good, and are in a convenient spritz. not to mention that sand doesn't seem to stick to the spritzes like it will stick to the baby oil like you would not believe!
Reply:buy tanning lotion..... from the store. it can be expensive but beauty comes at a cost.... baby oil will burn the hell out of you
Reply:Cocoa butter works great, make sure u keep your skin really moisturized. Good Luck!! Try some carrot oil if that dont seem to help.
Reply:Umm baby oil = burn !!! You are not going to get tan in one day no matter how long you stay out because you will burn and then peel.. So if you must tan do it slowly..

TANNING. PLEASE answer!?
You live (sort of) close to me. I looked at the weather map today and you shouldn't have any clouds! Go out around 12:00 and stay out until around 1:30 to 2:00. If you start to get very hot, have a place to go (under a tree, on your porch) that is out of the sun and stay there for a few minutes. If you don't burn easily (or at all, like me)- go out at 2:00. That's when I get my best tan!
TANNING. PLEASE answer!?
Lay out later in the day like after 2pm you time. Maybe an hour or so.
Reply:if you are really fair then layout for no longer then 15 minutes at a time, go inside, cool off then do it again...and again. the hottest times of the day for the sun are between the hours of 11 in the morning and 2 in the morning. you'll prolly get burned if you lay out between 1 and 2 though
Reply:The sun is always at it's hottest between noon and two p.m.

So I would lay out at 1:00- smack dab in the middle of the suns highest peak.

I would lay out maybe 40 minutes on your back, then 40 on your belly.
Reply:That's hard to say, we don't know where you live or even what the weather is like today in that area. I think you could judge better for yourself.
Reply:Hi, the main thing is common sense and above all take care and enjoy the sun and this summer

1. Start with 10 or 15 minutes of exposure to the sun or a tanning lamp, and gradually increase the time as your body becomes more tanned.

2. Start with a sunscreen with an SPF factor of under 15, but no less than 8.

3. Keep skin moisturized with after-sun lotion - preferably with aloe - to make your tan last.

4. If you notice your starting to burn put on a hat, cover up, or go inside!

5. Some medications (especially acne medications) lower your resistance to sun.

6. If you are light-skinned/fair, you are more prone to sunburn than people with darker complexions take extra precautions

Remember tanning has it鈥檚 benefit but even one burn increases your risk for skin cancer so be smart about tanning and you鈥檒l be sure to enjoy a great summer
Reply:Best results tannin between 11 and 3! I'm kinda fair myself, and I usually flip sides after every 4 or 5 songs, or 15 to 20 minutes! Happy tannin!
Reply:Okay, if you're pretty fair, it would be smart to use your brains in a way I didn't when I was young and stay out of tanning beds and avoid overexposure from the sun. There's a recent issue of Glamour magazine (either April or May issue) you should read with all the facts of the sun, skin cancer, etc.

By the way, two of the girls in that article - one was Hispanic and one was African American...both much darker than you I'm sure. They both had skin cancer.
Reply:When the sun is at it's best and it's worst for skin cancer layout between the hours of 10:00 AM -4:00 PM. You can lay out for however long you like and you know your skin. I would say do two hours on each side if you are comfortable with that and use the correct sunblock and tanning lotions. most important- Stay hydrated with water too!
Reply:I grew up on the beach.

We used baby oil and/or iodine to get a fast suntan.

That was in the days before skin cancer-well, there was skin cancer but we did not care.
Reply:there is a tan out that is very fast and it lasts and it doesn't cuse skin cancer and its called "tan in a Bottle". They used it on Bay Watch and that is how most people are tanning these days. Its in a bottle and you spray it all over your body and wait for it to darken and voila, tan in a bottle

Tanning bed sunburn...?

I have developed a very red sunburn on my tummy and back from the tanning bed. I have light hair and pale complexion. I've decided to take a two break from the beds to heal abit. After my sunburn has healed, will a tan develop afterwards. ( please don't preach about the dangers of tanning... heard it before).
Tanning bed sunburn...?
some people on here are dumb, yes you will get a tan.. i myself am pale, the first few days i got horrible sunburns.,

if you are using a stand up bed i suggest going 2 mins for 3 days, then go up a minuet 3 days

by the end of the month you will be a pretty bronze color.
Tanning bed sunburn...?
probablly not, you will most likely peel and be uncomfortable for a long time. thats what you get for using tanning beds.
Reply:It depends on your skin. We all tan differently. I tend to redden a bit then go golden brown but I have a friend who is fairer than me and she burns and goes white again. I guess you'll just have to wait and see.
Reply:OK no preaching but you know it's hard not to! Yes you're likely to get a tan.

Please let me say just 3 little words Jonson's Holiday Skin.
Reply:possibly , you may be suffering from what is called prickly heat, aswell ..i did when i used it the 1 and only time ,,,

try putting natural yogurt on to calm the redness down, if you itch on a sunbed take a antihistamin like piriton...

get your tan from a bottle its easier .......
Reply:Unfortunately you burned yourself, over cooked. You will most likely peel. you might have a very slim chance, but it's worth a try, keep your burn oiled well with baby oil. I'm a red head, but I don't burn easily as most red heads. I have a medium to dark complexion. But, when I DO burn, I use the baby oil treatment and most of the time I won't peel. Good luck.

Can anyone recomend facial tanning lotion for indoor tanning?

I need a tanning lotion for my face. I have sensitive skin that breaks out easily, and I am sick of my body being darker than my face. Usually, I will just put on aloe, and tan my face for about half of the session. That just is'nt cutting it. Some lotions that have been thrown out there are Saving Face Designer Skin Indoor Tanning Lotion, and FIESTA SUN TINI FACES INDOOR TANNING LOTION. Is anyone familiar with those? I'm open to any suggestions besides tanning beds are bad for me and my skin. Thanks for the advise but I already know that.
Can anyone recomend facial tanning lotion for indoor tanning?
I recommend covering your face with a towel if you tan, use bronzer on your face for a sun-like glow! Who would want the lines and wrinkles caused by facial tanning?
Can anyone recomend facial tanning lotion for indoor tanning?
Clarins'. Highly recommended.
Reply:i use nivea have similar skin and is very good
Reply:I would just use a self-tanner on your face and save your skin. I know you said you realize it's bad for you, but you will care later when you look 50 and you're only 25. Are you on birth control pills? You are risking permanent dark spots on your face if you tan while on the pill. Believe me, I know. I have it and can't get rid of it. I have spent thousands at the dermatologist and on the latest creme. Wear sunscreen, use a good self-tanner and you will thank me someday.
Reply:I like neutrogena tinted facial moisturizer. It isn't a tanner though. It will wash off at the end of the day, but it won't cause skin problems and looks very natural.
Reply:Envy My Flawless Face by Matahari is good overall, x-Appeal face by california tan-good and has a light tinted bronzer, and browning silk for faces by sweedish beauty-I work at a tanning salon and this has been one of the best selling ones thats been around for a while
Reply:I always put my Olay(SPF 15) no matter what. I love TiniFaces by Fiesta Sun and usually put that on top of the Olay. It has a little SPF in it as well, so I feel much better tanning with that on. As long as my face is really moisturized before I tan, I don't seem to have trouble keeping it nice and tanned, even with the SPF!

One reason that your face my not be tanning as fast as the rest of your body is that you probably wash your face harder and more often, or use a facial cleanser that contains mineral oil which can make your tan fade faster. Try switching to a face cleanser that is tanning friendly and keep your face moisturized constantly!
Reply:Try Swedish Beauty's Darkening Lotion for faces.. It's Hypo-Allergenic and it has triple bronzers in it. I used to work at a tanning salon that sold it and I used it all the time. I too have sensitive skin and it didn't make me break out at all. I highly recommend it!

Tanning beginner?

I've never gone tanning at a salon before. Do you need to use the oil and lotions? Are there ways to ensure an even tan? are you supposed to rotate and move to get other areas covered? What are your best tips for new tanners? (and don't tell me tanning is bad for me, im well aware of the risks, im an adult, i can make my own decisions.)
Tanning beginner?
-Use some sort of lotion or oil...but not a sunblock. (cuz, what's the point if you're going to block it?) You want the oil to keep your skin moist.

-Ramp up the # of minutes that you do. Most places make you take a written test to determine skin sensativity. I'd say to start out less than they recommend, and go from there. You're better off feeling that you could have done more, than feeling like you burned yourself.

-Don't go more than once every 24 hours.

-Most people can fit into a standard bed, and don't really need to move around much. But if your arms touch your sides when you sit in the bed, you might want to move them a bit, to keep tanning evenly.

-If you sit in a bed, make sure you don't get the "crescents" where your leg meets your backside.

-I recommend stand up booths, but they cost a bit more.
Tanning beginner?
You need buy an indoor tanning lotion from the salon....you will tan faster and more even. Get something w a bronzer for a lil instant color. Start out slow because if you get a burn it actually slows the tanning process. Try to go 3 days in a row , if you arent pink, this brings the melanin to the surface so you will tan quicker. Happy Tanning!!

Tanning help?

i went tanning for the first time today and well i was scared at first but now i'm ok i'm just wondering how to get a better tan the website of the tanning place i go to is hotteeztanhuts.com click on were you look at the beds the the one i pay for is the one on the bottom the sunstar tips please serious answers only check out website first please thanks
Tanning help?
Huh? I guess buy a good tanning lotion (They're cheaper online). But my advice is to get a natural tan from the sun, at least. They're healthier than booths. A spray-on tan is also even better bc it doesn't damage your skin.
Tanning help?
sorry babe....Its all genetic, ...but take it in small doses, 15 - 30 minutes max perday, between 7 - 10 (not between 10 - 2) as the sun is at its closest point on earth.
Reply:A tan has to be built up. You will not get tan on the first visit. Stick with the schedule the tanning place gives you. And use a tanning lotion that the place rec commends. But----spray on tans look as good and are healthier for your skin. You don't want to look like the old lady in "There's Something About Mary"-do you? Catcher mitt faces are definitely out now days!
Reply:Why do you want to do this and what type of skin do u have

While I have an German made in my house.

I get most of my rays outdoors at family Nudist resort
Reply:OK I am not sure what you are asking, you question isn't very clear. But you will need to go to the tanning bed at lest twice a week to get a base tan. Then once you get the color you want you can slack off to once a week or so to maintain it. You will need to use tanning lotion and the best ones to buy are the ones they sale at the salon. The more expensive the better. Also you need to moisturize. I put regular lotion on twice a day, once at night once in the morning.

happy tanning!

Tanning question.?

ok so my best friend works at a tanning salon and she can get me free tanning.

i have gone once for like 5 mins. but i never went again b/c im scared im gonna get cancer. and my mom doesnt want me to either.

what are your opinions on tanning?

ps. i am 17 and i have freckles and blonde hair. idk if race has anything to do with it. i burn easily.
Tanning question.?
I own a tanning shop and would say if any place is letting you tan if you are under 18 they do not care about your welfare.

Under 18s skin still needs maturing, and tanning ruins it, by the time you are 25 you will just turn into a leather handbag.

They also have no properly advised you on correct tanning times according to your skin type, or tanning accelorators. Stay away!

Correct timing for tanning with light skin: 4 minutes, twice a week for 4 weeks, up it to 6 for a further 4 weeks, then after that a once weekly session of 6 minutes to top it up. All WITH accelorator. I'm only telling you this as there is so much rubbish being put on here, about going on for 15 minutes a time, not because I think an under 18 should be tanning.

And to the total IDIOT saying go on until you burn, then wait til it goes away, I highly highly doubt you even tan properly yourself, let alone manage a salon.

Do NOT listen to that person
Tanning question.?
i recommend you just get a natural tan

go to the beach, its more fun :)
Reply:im 17. blonde and light skinned. i go in fact im about to go today. lol

but i go for 15 min. and so many people do it. i only started because its winter.

you can take percautions and use a protectant spray. if you burn easily i wouldnt go for more than 5 min.

everyone likes a little bit of color. and i know people are going to thumbs me down because i tan and its bad but im just being honest with you

my parents dont like me tanning either.
Reply:I think u should just get the mystic tan.......It works great plus u won't get skin cancer

Hope I helped!!!!!
Reply:tanning is completely safe.

alot of people will say it isnt, because they havent researched it.

since you have fair skin, and burn easily.

start off for about 3 to 5 minutes for the first week,

and then slowly move up.

and make sure you use a tanning lotion.!!!

they help make the tan stay and help you from damaging you skin.

i have researched alot about tanning beds., and am now very familiar with the fact and the myths of it.and how it works.

if you would like to research more check out this website

www.tanningtruth.com

or email me for any questions.!!

also some people will say to get a spray tan, which in some cases may work.but after a week, it tends to come off.

and you can tell where it comes off and where it is still on.!

hope i helped.=]
Reply:if it is just a level one regular bed, then staywith the 5 mins.

if you dont burn then the next time you go try 8 mins, an so on... if you burn.. wait til the burn goes away and back down your time... you will be tan in no time! :)
Reply:I know everyone on here is going to say how horrible it is. And tanning is pretty bad. I know someone in there twenties who has the worst type of skin cancer, and they got it from tanning.

It really depends on the circumstances. Some people go once or twice, and are fine and look great. Some people get "addicted" to it and how they look, and end up having skin cancer.

Personally, if you want to go once for the prom, senior graduation, or a wedding, sure. I think its fine. Although, I wouldn't go to just be tan at school. Stick to special occasions.
Reply:It is better to get a natural tan, because most of the time after burning you tan even if not a lot.

Besides there is nothing wrong with being pale.

I would rather be pale then fake a tan.

I don't think most fake tans give you cancer, but it is deffinatly not healthy for your skin.
Reply:Tanning is not safe. Overexposure to the UVA/UVB rays in general is not safe! Even if it's for a couple minutes, only a couple times a week, over time it builds up and ends up negatively affecting your skin.

Sure, you'll have gorgeously tanned skin now, but wait until your older. Ever seen one of those middle-aged women with skin that looks leathery and wrinkled? That's because they spent too much time trying to get tan when they were younger.

I have fair skin, freckles, red hair, and green eyes. This puts me at high risk for skin cancer (and it's in my family) so I'm really careful. Typically people who have fair skin, freckles, lighter hair color, blue or green eyes, and a history of it in their families have a higher risk of getting cancer.

If you want to be tan, try a spray tan or a tanning cream. If you over-do it, you look orange, but if you use it wisely, you get the exact look! I used it over the summer, and I was just as tan as the rest of my friends who spent their time out in the sun. Works great for me!

Tanning 101?

Ok so I have an interview @ a tanning place tomorrow. Problem is I've only been tanning like once LOL how I got an interview I DON'T KNOW. But I do know that it's close to my house n I really want the job. SO if you could give me some tanning 101 advice so I can sound somewhat smart in my interview that would be great!!!
Tanning 101?
Getting a job working in a tanning salon is going to be like getting a job anywhere else. Your main job will be to SELL- tanning packages, lotions, etc. They are going to hire you because they think you will make them money. Emphasize your people skills, your reliability, your dedication to the job, and your personality. They will train you about everything else! Also, FYI if you get a job in a tanning salon you will be expected to TAN which ruins your skin and causes cancer so be aware or the risks involved.
Tanning 101?
act like you totally rule the school and try to go to other tanning places before your veiw and copy others

go with the flow
