What type of tanning is the best for this situation?

i am getting married in october. i hike often and work outside. so needless to say i have some funcky tan lines. my wedding dress is strappless...what can i do to get rid of the tank top lines? if i tan in a tanning bed will the tanned places get darker?

should i risk it?

i have tried the tanning lotions and do not like them...they turn me a curtain type of orange and i am not into that.

any ideas?
What type of tanning is the best for this situation?
Skip the tanning bed. It's terrible for your skin and there's no guarentee it will solve your problem anyway. First, commit to using sunscreen for the next few months so your funky tan lines will fade and then hit the Mystic Tan or something similar in your area about a month before so you can "practice".
What type of tanning is the best for this situation?
from now on when you go outside, wear a strapless top...not quite conducive to hiking...but you won't get the tan lines! also, get a strapless swim suit and lay out as often as you can. Even if it is only for 20 minutes, every bit helps! Its better for you than the tanning bed!!
Reply:Since you have two months ahead of you, go the the tanning bed a few times and try to even out your lines. If it works or doesn't maybe switch to the air tan?? It depends on how tan you want to be for your wedding. Air tans (mystic tans, whatever) are like $25 a pop where I live. I'm on a membership with The TanCo. for $25 a month. That gets me unlimited/free use of the level one beds and discounted prices on the higher level beds (2-5). Congrats!
Reply:Why not try a spray tan at the salon. That should even out all the lines you have. The tanning bed I would skip.
Reply:Try rubbing lime juice into the areas where you need to tan. It is a tan accelerator. And you'll smell like a yummy margarita.

I have the same problem! My dress is strapless and my back is five different colors from tanning while cycling. I finally gave up because the darkest part is unnaturally brown, and the other parts from my bike outfit is normal tan. I have different colors and even a couple of finger marks where my boyfriend was trying to strategically place sunblock.

My solution is to hide it with the veil and just leave the veil on at the reception.
Reply:you could put a jumper over the top of your dress to hide the lines

Tanning question?

its really hard for me to tan and it takes me ages. whats the quickest solution to having a great tan? i dont want it to look really fake though. i want a natural look. also, im too scared to go to a tanning salon cuz i heard that its dangerous for ur skin. r there any creams or anything?
Tanning question?
On the contrary...The beds are the safest.

The beds don't put out the harmful UV rays.

Go in and ask them about it. They are usually trained up on what's safe and what's not.

As far as "quick" tanning. Take your time to figure out what lotions work best with your skin.
Tanning question?
Eat nutritious food. Fruits and vegetables that provide more vitamins and proteins. Adequate intake of diet will not only keep you fit, but also help your skin glow. The best part is, its all natural.
Reply:Use Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer.

It doesen't make your skin orange or streaky.
Reply:go to the beach, play volleyball or anything... its natural! but put some spf lotions so the harmful rays won't harm you.. moisturize!:)
Reply:You look fantastic to me, as you are.

Tanning questions..?

Can you still tan with a SPF? What SPF should I use? I rarely burn and tan pretty easily.. can you use SPF in a tanning bed? Thanks for the help!
Tanning questions..?
ummmm...yea, i tan with SPF all the time. i would use at least a 15 because it lessens your chances of getting skin cancer. and you don't want that do you??? umm...you can use SPF in a tanning bed, it doesn't do you much good. i'd say, just use natural sun plus it's more enjoyable and it's less likely to give you cancer if you use sunscreen! :)
Tanning questions..?
yeah i wanna know 2 i was just going to ask this question until i saw yours..................................
Reply:SPF is used to block the sun. You can't use SPF lotions in a tanning bed. They have lotions at the tanning salons that are really good.
Reply:yes...you can still get a tan. it will take longer...it won't be as damaging to your skin, but it will be a long process;)
Reply:You use an indoor lotion in a tanning bed.
Reply:as far as i know, tanning bed lotions do not contain spf...%26amp; u can`t use regular tanning lotion in the beds, because they contain ingredients (mineral oil, etc.) that damage the acrylic of the beds...most salons will actually check that u have the appropriate tanning-bed safe lotion before u go back to your cubicle to tan...
Reply:You Should NEVER go to a tanning bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote from the American Cancer Society... "Women who use tanning beds at least once a month increase there risk of skin cancer by 55%"!!!!!!!!! Not to mention wrinkles!! Try Airbrush Tanning!!! Not Mystic Tanning!!! If you are in the sun use at least SPF 35 You will still get tan!
Reply:i love being tan! =)

Tanning lotions?

Does anyone know any brands of tanning lotions? Not a self tanning one but just one you can put on before going out in the sun. And one that actually works good because i don't tan that well.
Tanning lotions?
hawaiian tropic was good i always thought. Its cheap and smells really good. It also lets you ta, while not burning; but i guess that depends on what SPF you get or how much/often you put it on.
Tanning lotions?
sun shine
Reply:California Tan is really good, or Australian Gold.

Tanning help?

I'm going to a beach for vacation w/my friends and we will b tanning im pale so before i tan i burn and i dont wanna b burnt! is there ne way i wont burn and i want to know about how many minutes i should tan on each side
Tanning help?
Well, i think either way you are going to burn .. you might need to apply sunscreen .. i know that's what you didn't want to hear ..maybe give yourself 15-20 minutes on each side? also if you're concerned with your skin color .. even though tanning booths are terrible, you could go there for 2 weeks every other day and take it slow maybe just 3 minutes standing up at first just so you get a base .. i did that because i used to burn, but now i only burn on my face(: .. godoluck though %26amp; do apply sunscreen because it's been hot %26amp; you'll still get a tan with sunscreen on.

Tanning for wedding?

My wedding is March 1 and i need a little color for my dress and the honeymoon. When should i start tanning in a tanning bed? I will burn a little after the first time but then it turns into a tan.

yes, i know about all the dangers of the UV rays but this is a one time thing and i don't plan on abusing it.

Thanks.
Tanning for wedding?
Ok, I'm a Cali girl, so I know all about tanning (unfortunately) and have to say....the fake and bake is the best way to go (unfortunately).

Health risks aside, here's my advice...

1. Go to the stand up bed. The lay down bed will give you awkward tan lines (they can't be avoided, it's the pressure against the glass. You'll definitely see them with a strapless gown).

2. Go for 6 minutes your first time. Trust me.

3. Don't wear lotions or makeup, it can have serious reactions to your skin. Don't trust their magic potions to make you tan faster....bad juju!

4. You shouldn't burn after the first time. Burning is not necessarily good...

Here's what I'd do

1st session- 6 minutes

2nd session (two days later) - 7 minutes

3rd session (two days later) - 8 minutes

And so on...don't go more than 12 minutes.

Some hints:

1. Put a sticker on (they have cute heart ones) to show your tanning progress.

2. Tanning is addicting, *TRUST* your fi when he says you are tan enough!

3. Your last tan session, go two days before your wedding. You will feel great (thank you endorphins) and won't be red at all.

Now that I told you how to ruin your skin (lol), good luck! As long as it's a one time thing, you'll do fine. I'm not going to judge you for doing it at all...I understand being a woman! You want that confidence to look and feel totally sexy on your wedding day and honeymoon. More power to you honey!

Have a fun time!
Tanning for wedding?
Do the spray-tan thing. It's less harmful than UV rays, and it's painless. Since your wedding is March 1st, practice now to see what it looks like.
Reply:now
Reply:Have you thought about getting a professional spray tan? They don't last super long, you could get one done now to see if you like it, then do it again before the wedding.

If you want the tanning booth for sure, I would start a month before the wedding, and go a couple times a week, starting with low time.
Reply:I would start now and go three days a week. If you feel like you're getting too dark, decrease to twice a week.

If you want an alternative to a tanning bed, you can try a spray tan. Go to a quality salon and it will look natural, not orange or streaky.
Reply:why would you want a tan?? it can give you cancer.

it gave my mom cancer. im not kidding, she has to go to treatments for 3 years, but she is ok now :) and i think you look better with your natural skin color, even though i dont know you, but i bet!!!! if you want to tan, if you really dont care about the risk, go to google and type, bed tanning in: wherever you live. but seriously think about the risks!!! it changes your life!! and no, my mom is not old, im 12!!
Reply:Best wishes for your upcoming marriage! I personally tan very easily. For me I would go 3 or 4 times and be tan all over. However, I have a friend who is fair skin toned and she needs to go for several months to get a nice tan. If you normally burn the first time, I would think that you should start by the end of this month. But..................

I have used a tanning product that looks really nice. No orange coloring or streaks - you might want to try to see how it looks on you. Loreal makes a tanning product that is a towlette similar to the feel and look of a baby wipe that is very easy to use. The only thing I do not like about this product is that it has a faint aroma I'm not crazy about. My sister uses the same product, but the sent doesn't bother her at all. Though I am overly sensative to smells because of migraines. Good luck with your tan. I dont blame you for wanting some color for your wedding day!!!
Reply:I know this sounds silly but I needed some sun. So I got on www.craigslist.com and bought one and put it in my garage. I got a pretty good one for about 200 bucks and started doing it slowly almost everynight for about 6 minutes or so. I had a light tan and looked great. I dont regret doing that at all. I sold it after the wedding on the same site.
Reply:I don't know about the tanning bed thing, but I got an airbrush tan a couple days before my wedding. It worked out great because it was an actual person doing the spraying (not in one of those booths) and you could control how dark you wanted to go. I just wanted a light tan, and it looked very natural...not orange at all. The only issue I had was about a week to a week and a half later when the tan started to fade and peel off, it looked kind of weird in spots, but nothing too drastic.
Reply:Start now so you can go slow. My wedding is at the end of April and I plan to start next month. I'll start with once a week, 8 minutes. Then move up to 10. Then if I don't feel dark enough in April, I'll go twice a week...but no more than 12 minutes at a time...no burn for me.
Reply:I am a very fair redhead and I did the same for my wedding, I know its bad for you but I only did it for 2 months before the wedding and haven't done it again in 4 years. This is what I did, I started with 7min and went every day for a week to get my base, I used their tanning lotions #1 because it kept my skin from getting red and #2 they smell really good, stay away from the ones that heat up or "sizzle" as they call it and the ones with a lot of bronzer built in, they make you kind of orange. After the first week i moved up to 8min. for every day a week. After that I went every other day and increased by 2 min every other time I went, it was kind of drawn out but I had a great natural looking tan that never got red and lasted for a while after the wedding. I suggest going to a place that allows you to split the sessions (normally 1 for 20min split into 2 10min sessions) or a place with an unlimited month option.

Stay away from the spray tan booths, they are uneven and turn your skin orange. I have no experience with a professional spray tanner.

Tanning back in a tanning bed?

I have just started tanning at a salon and I use the lotion, the problem is that i cant spread it on my back. My body comes out red, but my back gets nothing. Any ideas on how to get an even tan on my back?
Tanning back in a tanning bed?
Honestly, your back tans very well and if you are laying on your back side you will get tanner on your back anyway, that is why they reccomend using a stand up booth every once in a while so you do not create a line on your body where your back side is darker then your front.

OH and do not use spray tan! you'll turn orange and in between your toes, fingers and under your armpits look really really funny!
Tanning back in a tanning bed?
Go with a friend and have them do it for you.
Reply:Lay on your stomach, half way through your tanning time, turn over.
Reply:try spray tanning---its healthier and a person does it for you soyou dont have to worry about not getting an even tan
Reply:skin cancer rocks!
Reply:i wish i could tan
Reply:WAT ARE YOU DOING???

u are going to be wrinkly and full of cancer inlike ten years.!!

are u crazy?? man . iwould just stop tanning in general if u were u. its called like skin cancer and 5 people in my family have it. and it kills. seriously....
Reply:Even with the lotion, you are going to get wrinkles earlier than you'd think and are at much higher risk for sun cancer...

Get a spray on tan if you want to be darker, please!
Reply:There is an Aussie Gold Bronzing spray that not only works great but has an excellent tropical smell to it. I had the same problem, it goes on evenly too.
Reply:umm my best suggestion and what i did when i was doing that is go in a stand up tanning bed it worked for me but im not trying to be your mom and give u a lecture but u shouldn't do that cause my mom got skin cancer and she said getting it taken off sucked and it leaves bad scars

Tanning oil?

I don't feel like spending 20-30 dollars on bronzing oil for indoor tanning. Do you think outdoor tanning oil will work just fine for indoor tanning?

You can just use some tanning cream, which mainly is a cream but you would have to get someone to put in on your back. I think Dove makes them. It's pretty cheap under 10$ i believe. Hope this helps.

Tanning and weight?!?

ok my skin type is VERY delicate!! if i go tanning (cause im pale literally) i will get so so so many moles!! i hate it? wut should i do?? i wanna get tan but w/o moles!!! GOD I HATE MOLES!! and if u say fake tan, wut brand???

also, how can u loose weight? i mean im really lazy, and i really dont wanna walk cause its boaring. is there any other way THATS FUN?!?! please help!
Tanning and weight?!?
Don't go tanning...it causes skin cancer. Go and get a spray on tan...or a self tanner at home. You will get quick results! Tanned skin makes U look thinner too!

As far as weight loss goes...it is simple...so long as you don't have hypothyroidism....Calories in- calories out.Go dancing, have sex, clean the house...go for a shopping marathon...everything you do burns calories...some more than others just as some food is better for you than others!
Tanning and weight?!?
go to the tanning salon for a spray on tan... it's professional.

as to the next part... pilates. most is done laying down. i recommend winsor pilates
Reply:Letss see have you gone to the doctor about it..

You can get a spray tan at the tanning place..

And they make fun Work-Out Videos that you can try.

Yeah i'm tryin to lose a few pounds but it never seems to work! :(
Reply:If you want a good tan without getting moles, us JERGENS. It works beautifully!
Reply:okay for the tan part get a spray tan at the tanning salon and for a workout go swimming, is actually really fun and + u will see shirtless cute boys

for losing weight try sex ur but get rounder and bigger and get your dance on watch videos and do you or you can detox.
Reply:get a fake tan, i would prolly go with the spray at a salon or buy the self spray ones, theres lots of brands, choose one that is in a middle price range.

as for the weight swim, start a sport or hobby, go to the gym.

gym would prolly be the best because you build muscle tone faster and meet people who you can relate to and can can make it fun, or keep you company.
Reply:ummm about the tanning i don't know what you should do

you could always join a weightloss clinic and if all else fails you can get lypo
Reply:I wouldn't recommend you use tanning beds with your skin. It will be hard to moniter the moles, if you get so so so many. Try getting an airbrush tan, or a gradual tanning lotion.

As far as losing weight, join a sports team, swim, pilates, yoga, find an excersice form that you really like because there are so many more than just walking and running.
Reply:cardio %26amp; zantrax 3 it works as far as tannin idk sorry.
Reply:if you are cumming out in loads of mole that is your skin telling you to stop you are permanently damaging it just go and get a spray tan i do, it looks natural enough. if you have it done professionally. o and about the weight thing just go to dancing lessons its fun energetic and the weight just falls off its simple.
Reply:If you get moles when you tan, then I strongly suggest that you see your doc asap because you should see a dermatologist and have them check your moles to be sure they are not precancerous.

Please don't tan your skin. I used to tan and be very bronzed as a child and teen and now I protect my skin and wear lots of wide brimmed hats and sunglasses. My skin is so fair now that I felt like I had to lighten my hair so I wouldn't look so pale. I used to wear my hair blue black.

In your local drugstore, there are many lotions now to give you the "fake" tan look. Just be sure to use one that not too dark at first and apply it to your whole body and DO NOT SIT DOWN OR PUT YOUR CLOTHES ON FOR AT LEAST THIRTY MINUTES.

If you want something more department store quality, try Clarins self tanning milk and they also have one just for your face. It's a bit pricy, but I can vouch for the quality.

For the weight loss, you need to eat six small meals a day. That's right six small meals and they should be lots of vegetables more than fruit.

I lost sixty pounds using the Fit for Lift book by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond. It really works and you don't feel hungry but you have to eat healthy and follow the routine for at least a month to see some results.

Tanning moisturizers?

i am going tanning for 15 minutes, and i was wondering what kind of moisturizers would be good to help inensify my tan, and help keep from peeling, i am staring to peel, and i just keep tanning, its not bad nasty peeling, just a few moist skins falling off on my shoulder. i use aloe vera, so is there anything else?
Tanning moisturizers?
You should ask the people who work at the tanning salon what they'd recommend.

Tanning lotion vs. sunscreen?

I'm already somewhat tan. I usually use sunscreen when I'm at the pool or at the beach. I see people using this tanning lotion/oil that they're spraying on. Does that give you a better tan? Does that stuff have sunscreen in it(some sort of SPF)? Anyone out there use this stuff? Can you sunburn easily from it?
Tanning lotion vs. sunscreen?
tanning oil comes with either NO spf, or 2-14 i believe. if you read the bottle it'll tell you. they claim to enhance the tan and make it appear "more bronze" and whatnot. If you're going to be outside a while, I suggest you get one with at least SPF 4 or more.
Tanning lotion vs. sunscreen?
you burn easily from it. it does have spf but only like spf 8 which is nothing. i put sun screen then tanning oil over it.... try that if you want
Reply:DONT USE TANNING OILS! They actually make sun exposure worse for your skin not matter what their spf is. Look for sunscreen with Uva and Uvb protection and if you want to get tan, use a daily mostureizer with a hint a color, like Jergens Natural Glow.
Reply:No, tanning oil has absolutley no SPF's in it. It actually makes your hair more prone to sunburns and other sun related problems. I'd use tanning oil in combination with sunscreen.
Reply:Forget the tanning lotion !

SUNSCREEN %26gt; to protect from skin cancer !

Tanning tips? Got any?

My skin takes awhile to tan so what are some effective ways to get a good dark tan besides using lotion thats for tanning? Thanks!
Tanning tips? Got any?
Wouldn't you rather be white and not have skin cancer?
Tanning tips? Got any?
Skin cancer is not a pretty color. So be careful =)
Reply:just dont do it to much cause u can get skin cancer for real
Reply:The banana boat has a spray that you put on before you go in the sun, it not only helps protect agiainst a sunburn, but also helps you tan faster. And waterproof, so you can still go swimming.
Reply:hahaha...we all want to be GOLDEN tan like pAWz.
Reply:The best way is just to use a lotion for indoor or outdoor tanning (depending on what you're doing). The reason is that when you tan without moisturizing your skin first, you are simply tanning then washing away the dry tanned skin when you shower. If you are tanning outside you should ALWAYS have on lotion with SPF in it!

I'm not sure what the reason for not wanting to use an lotion is. If it's cost, there are several lotions that are not that expensive (Drama Queen by Designer Skin) and are well worth the few extra bucks. If it's because you have sensitive skin, there are some lotions (Sheer Wisdom by Designer Skin) made for sensitive skin that do work. If you just don't want to use a lotion MADE for tanning, at least use some kind of lotion before you tan. Skin that is moisturized holds the tan much better! Also, be cautious about using lotions or body wash with mineral oil in it...it can make your tan fade faster!
Reply:I just use plain ole baby oil, but keep in mind it has no spf, but it works really well, I'm one of the darkest white girls around, also if you have accsess to a pool reflection off the water speeds tanning along. Good Luck!

Tanning and Burn Scars?

About a year ago my leg was scalded pretty badly by boiling Ramen noodle soup. Now I'm getting married in less than 2 months and I was hoping to go tanning so I have a bit of color on my wedding day (I don't want to blend with my dress! lol). However, when I went tanning for a 10 minute session my scar felt like it was burning all over again! Does anyone know what I can put on it to keep it from feeling like this? I put a towel on it but I could still feel the heat and it was very uncomfortable.

Also, I tried self tanner and I didn't like the results.

The burn is on the inside of my thigh in case that helps.

Thanks for the help!
Tanning and Burn Scars?
Apply a really strong SPF to the area. At least an SPF of 50. This should help greatly. If you still have some burning, put a towel over the area. Not only do scars tend to have a burning sensation while tanning, they can also become miscolored.

Good luck and have a wonderful wedding!
Tanning and Burn Scars?
Are you taking any kind of medication?

It could cause your skin to be extra sensitive. Be careful and don't burn!

Tanning acelerator?

does the tanning maximiser spray help boost a tan or is it a load of rubbish? Im going to egypt in april and i want a nice dark tan as im like a milk bottle!! If it does work please recommend me some good ones. Thanks
Tanning acelerator?
I recommend you to use the tanning beds. They are harmless and work really good.I think the tanning beds give you a better and real color because you don't want to look fake.I understood that you wanted to look darker but if you want you can also use the sprays that turn you into a orange-ish color that doesn't work really good. The sprays are mostly used for freckles, and bikini lines. If you wish to use the sprays the limit is a C-10 which is like a light orange and the lowest is a A-1 which works kinda like the tanning beds. The sprays cost more money(like 100-200 dollars) than the tanning beds(80 dollars) I have used both and i liked more the tanning beds because unlike the spray tans the color stays firm in your skin but the spray after a month or 2 it would get off.
Tanning acelerator?
vaselline. That works really, really good. Jergans too- but I personally think Vasilline works better. Plus the tanning bed and that, id bet youd look better than a milk bottle
Reply:ive only tried one and it turned me on and my best friend has tried like everyone she can find and they all turn her funny shades
Reply:It can work if you already have a somewhat tanned tone, but the outcomes are only slightly more than a regular tanning aide. Also know that with fair skin, it will be more difficult to get a tan, so a dark tan is likely not to happen.
Reply:jergens self tanning lotion works great!!tried a variety.I would stilltan in bed and add that when i got out ofshower for added inhancement...
Reply:i would start with a plain accelerator or bronzer but once you get a good base tan i would say go for a tingler. it will make your tan dark and long lasting
Reply:any kind of maximiser will help.....i use a product called out of control....it is a lotion and it has a tingle factor of 40 plus...but that is not recommended for someone of your color....get a good 2 weeks tanning in first and then try it......it will boost your tan considerably
Reply:I'm assuming you are tanning at a tanning salon. If you aren't then you should start going tanning! Make sure you always put lotion on your skin after you take a shower or wash your face. If you aren't tanning, go to your local tanning salon and they will know of really good lines of tanning spray that do work the best! I've used store brought brands but I get better results from the ones I've bought from the tanning salon.

ok so if I go too a stand up tanning bed about 9 times 12 minutes each visit how many shades do you think I will get darker I tan normally I guess I don't really burn.
Tanning help?
It depends on what "level" bed you go in. If you go in a level one, or the one with the least power, you will probably get quite noticably darker. Within just a week of going in a level one, I was at least four shades darker, going in each time at ten minutes. You will get much darker if you go in higher level beds. I suggest going in a high level bed to get good color, and then sticking with lower level beds to maintain the tan.

Tanning Bed Itch?

I want my skin to be a little darker for my wedding to I signed up for a tanning bed. I haved used them before just not that often. Anytime I have used it I get this itchiness all over for the first few days. (not really an itch but it feels exactly like the tingle lotion) This time its worse. I cant stay in the bed for longer than 4 minutes becuase its driving me nuts! SOme people have told me that it just means that I burned. Im just not really red on the outside. Does anyone else get this or know what it means??

And please I only want comments from people who have tanned before and either have or havnt gotton this...not people who just dont believe in tanning beds :) Thanks!
Tanning Bed Itch?
i always tan before i go on a vacation to get a base tan and i have had this happen to me a few times before. I went every other day but then during my third or fourth time the tingling came. I did the same thing as you did and i got out after a couple of minutes becuase it tingled so bad. after that i went every third day for only like 4 minutes and then gradually went back to every other day and i could eventually go in for nine minutes with no tinging. so it will go away, just lighten up on how often you go in and for a shorter amount of time! and if you use lotion afterwards it helps get rid of t he tingling also. hope this helps !!

ps. people above me said that they think it is because of their lotion or from the bed being dirty. this cant be true becuase i dont use lotion and i always use the stand-up booths
Tanning Bed Itch?
i used to tan alot and never got this reaction, maybe u are having an allergic reaction to your lotion? you could try a different kind of lotion and see if it stops. I used to get burnt once in a while but it never was itchy or tingly....hope this helps
Reply:That used to happen to me, and I think was what the lady sprayed the bed with to clean it after each person uses it. If that isnt it try using some lotion befor you get in the tanning bed.
Reply:this happened to me both times i tried tanning, i thought it was my lotion, so i stopped using lotion. Well that didn't work.

So i stopped tanning.

BUt then i wanted to tan for prom this year so i thought i would give it another try, nothing helped, iw as up allllll night scratching and almost went to the hosp. I took showers, i took benadryl, used aloe vera, etc.

So then i started Tanning in the dome and i was fine.

I personally think that because my skin is so sensitive that when people would tan they didnt wash off the bed enough, then i came to find out, even if they wash the beds off, the tingler from other lotions are still persent.

the dome really worked for me, i got tan and i didnt itch.

They lady just let me up grade and pay like and extra 5 dollars or so to upgrade and she also extended my package bc i couldnt tan for like a week from the break out.

Good luck

Tanning Problem?!?

DONT ANSWER UNLESS YOU TAN, PLEASE.

So, i went tanning for the first time yesterday.

and i did not realize how closterphoblic i was.

i could not close the top on me.

i really want to tan though.

and the stand ip ones look even smaller.

are there any tricks on how to calm down

or not notice the small space?

thanks!

10 points to best.
Tanning Problem?!?
I think the best way is not to think about that.I had a similar problem and it worked. You have to distract yourself. I know sounds weird but... after all your thoughts are the one that make you panic. Don't concentrate on what you are doing at the moment and think of something nice, of what you have to do after this etc. You know best. Good luck :D:D:D lol
Tanning Problem?!?
Close your eyes and picture yourself on a hot, sunny beach with a sexy man. Haha.

Close your eyes and picture yourself on a hot, sunny beach with a sexy man. Haha.

Tanning question?

Hey guys, i am going to start going to a tanning salon some time in april. Well my question is if i have light beigh skin how long will it take for me to get a like dark beigh colored skin

please dont tell me not to go to a tanning bed because i hate self tanners and mystic tans because they turn me orange lol
Tanning question?
It just depends on you skin and how well it takes uv rays that turn the color. For me it takes about 2-3 weeks to get a noticable tan. I go about 3 times a week too. I agree with you though, self tanners are a mess and look bad. Go to the tanning bed. Who cares if we are wrinkled when we are old, right? We all will be anyway. Just use a good moisturizer. Enjoy it, it's relaxing!
Tanning question?
depends on the place. Most are around 10 minutes
Reply:usually by the fourth tanning session you should be starting a good tan. Remember that your first and second session you will burn before you tan. just take it easy for the first session. It's going to hurt a little but you will end up with a great tan. You will also have to go back a few times to maintain your tan, until the summer sun can take over.
Reply:Why don't you just lay out by the pool or in your backyard or something. And I'm not telling you not to go to a tanning salon, I have no problems with it.
Reply:After about three times of tanning you should get the skin color you want, just make sure to moisturize your skin well it helps keep the tan
Reply:you need to go at least twice a week for a few weeks

and by the fourth time you will start seeing a fairly good tan

good luck

Tanning with baby oil in a standup bed?

Will it work better than a tanning lotion? I already have a good base tan, but will it burn in 10 minutes?

((Yes I'm aware theres a high risk of skin cancer..Its my skin to tan so no I dont need the "your gonna get cancer" comments..))

Thanks = )
Tanning with baby oil in a standup bed?
DON'T DO IT! It's really, really bad! Tanning lotions are fromulated with moisturizers and other nutrients for your skin that will help it keep a radiant glow. Use the tanning lotions formulated for the tanning beds. There are ones with amplifyers and bronzers to help with color if that's what you want.
Tanning with baby oil in a standup bed?
ya i wouldn't use baby oil. you will burn and if you do don't use it for more thann 5 minutes of your session
Reply:Ask the tanning salon but my understanding is that you should only use indoor tanner for tanning beds.
Reply:I would be a hypoccrite if I told you not to use tanning beds. But don't use oil, try one of these following tanning lotions: Back in Blaque, OC Still Summer or OC Ten x
Reply:If you're going in something like a tanning bed, use tanning oil - according to those 2 links below, baby oil ruins the beds.
Reply:From experience... use tanning lotion. They are specially formulated for tanning. Just use a tanning lotion with a accelerator.
Reply:I started tanning when I was about 16 but recently quit because of all the hyper-pigmentation. This happens when you get to be my age (31 yrs). Anyway, my mother-in-law owns a tanning salon locally so I think I know a thing or 2 about tanning. First of all, you're NUTS to use baby oil. You will cook yourself in the salon just as you would by the natural sun. A lot of girls think that if they use cocoa butter, baby oil, cooking oil, they will get BETTER results. Don't waste your time, energy or money. BUY the stuff that is recommended for INDOOR tanning. It's recommended for a reason. A lot of these products that are NOT for indoor use ruin the tanning beds acrylic as well. If you are caught using something other than an indoor tanning lotion at my mother-in-laws salon, they KICK you out. These beds cost THOUSANDS of dollars! I recommend using a bronzer if you want to go deeper in color. Swedish Beauty and Australian Gold work best. Look up indoor lotions on E-bay. They are WAY cheaper. Good luck and if you're going to damage your skin, do it the RIGHT way.

Tanning beds.. Yes or No?

I want to go to a tanning bed, to get myself a tan before summer. I've heard you can get cancer and your skin get damged. It will be my first time, and i dont want a strong tan. What do you guys think, safe or not, why not?
Tanning beds.. Yes or No?
Don't tan right now, it's still the dead of winter. Wait until spring, April or May. Yeah tanning beds can damage your skin but so can regular sunlight. you aren't going to get cancer if you tan in moderation. For example: I only buy 5 tans %26amp; I use them straight for one week, in the spring, %26amp; I only do this once a year. My skin is pale %26amp; I get burnt rather easily. I found that my little "base tan" from the salon prevented me from burning in the summer (or at least from burning as quickly as I used to). Also, my skin takes a while to start getting tan so I found using the salon, a quicker way to start my tan, rather than sitting in my backyard for an hour %26amp; not seeing any result.

If you use the salons in moderation, you're not going to get skin cancer. People make it a huge deal because there are a lot of dumb people out there that won't moderate themselves. It really depends on your own self-control.
Tanning beds.. Yes or No?
no, ive heard the same things so dont
Reply:no you will get cancer and die

~:(
Reply:Yes, all the bad stuff is true. Also, chemicals that are very bad, get in your skin. If you want a nice tan, just put on minimal sunscreen, and hang out in your yard for about 2 hrs or w/ev,
Reply:Personally I am a fan of them, I usually have a couple of sessions a week in preparation for a big night out or just to cheer myself up, as long as you don't use them to often and get advice from one of the staff who works in the tanning shop you should be okay. Be extra careful if you are of a pale complextion.
Reply:i go sometimes, if you go and get a base tan and then go like once a week you'll be ok, but dont go alot you'll end up with wrinkles, use good lotion! theres always a risk of cancer, but theres a risk of cancer with everything these days it seems
Reply:Say no to tanning beds. They really are dangerous and fair skinned people (like me and you) are especially susceptible to skin cancer. It just isn't worth it!

Click on the link below to read more about the dangers.
Reply:NO don't do it. They are bad for you and your skin.

My sister is a registered nurse for the Air Force and says they are like a microwave and will cook you from the inside out. It might not show in the short but, in the long run it is VERY BAD.

If you are going to do it any way start with very short times 10 to 15 min first couple of times and how it will look that depends on how often you go
Reply:HELL NO!!
Reply:NO WAY don't do it the rumours you have been hearing are completely true! If you want a fake tan the ones you buy in the shop are better or book a spray tan with a beauty clinic...
Reply:NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR SKIN AND MAKE YOU LOOK 80 WHEN YOUR 30.....GO ON EBAY AND FIND SOME "FAKE BAKE." IT APPLIES EASILY, WON'T STREAK AND MOST IMPORTANT, WON'T MAKE YOU ORANGE LIKE MOST SELF TANNERS....IT COMES OUT OF THE BOTTLE AND LOOKS LIKE CHOCOLATE BUT BLENDS IN EASILY AND AFTER A COUPLE OF APPLICATIONS YOU WILL BE DARKER THAN IF YOU TANNED IN A BED FOR TWO WEEKS....I USED TO TAN AND AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS OF TANNING MY SKIN BEGAN TO LOOK LIKE ALIGATOR SKIN....I'LL NEVER GO BACK.....THIS IS THE BEST PRODUCT ON THE MARKET...ALOT OF CELEBRITIES USE IT, TOO......
Reply:That would be your choice: looking tanned now or having a very high chance to get a skin cancer later! There is no sun screen invented yet that can protect your skin from harmful UVB you get in tanning salon! And it doesn't matter how helpful is a salon personnel! They made new machines now that eliminate UVA, but not UVB rays that get deep in the skin, much deeper that from regular sun tanning.
Reply:No dont do it! Why do u want to go taning? to look better? u dnt look good when u have skin cancer
Reply:It's just as safe as regular sunlight, except it's stronger. But regular sunlight isn't all that safe if you stay in it for too long!

If you want to do it, just make sure you don't tan too much or for too long! That's when problems start.

There is however, plenty of bacteria and other junk in tanning beds from the last person there ... so make sure you go to a good place ... or if you're like me and get totally grossed out about that, I would suggest not going ... :)

Someone said tanning beds cook you from the inside out like a microwave - that's not true. Nothing cooks anything from the inside out unless it's on the inside, not even microwaves. A fever is what cooks you from the inside out, not a tanning bed.
Reply:I say a big, fat NO.
Reply:first off - yes a tanning bed does up the chances of you getting skin cancer and it does prematurily age your skin.

although, i still tan ocassionally...i dont do it all the time though by no means. i think tanning is okay as long as you dont over do it...you could probably get a nice tan in about 2 or 3 weeks of tanning everyday- if the bed isnt a high wattage bed (some beds are stronger than others - the higher the wattage the faster you will tan). I would definately suggest you invest in a tanning accelerator. this is a lotion that will speed up the process of your tanning and make you get dark faster. I use a hot tingle factor...i love it and i think it does help me get dark faster - you should talk to the clerk at the tanning salon and see what she has to say and which one she recommends for you to use. the people at the tanning salon also told me to tan after i have been working out or have my blood a flowing because you tan faster then. Also, where clothes that trap the heat in because you will still tan after you are out of the bed, especially if you use a tanning accelerator. Dont immediately shower after you tan either...your suppose to wait at least 4 hours - you will smell bad (again especially if you use a tanning lotion) but dont shower! haha

also, if you do decide to tan always use alot of moisturizer and drink alot of water to help your skin. always wear the goggles they give you so you dont get an eye problem and if you feel like your face is getting burt or whatever, lay a towel over it. because if you burn and peel, its like starting from scratch on getting a tan and it also HURTS really bad!

Good Luck On Getting A Pretty Tan! :)
Reply:Avoid the tanning bed and get a sunless tanner. The light from tanning beds penetrate deeper into the skin than sunlight and can damage your skin and cause premature aging.

Tanning products?

i'm looking for some kind of bodywash or lotion that also contains a bit of self tanner that will give me a gradual tan. any advice? if not just give some advice on other good tanning products. thank you SOOOOO much!
Tanning products?
Check at a Tanning Salon,, there are alot of good ones out there, bood luck.
Tanning products?
yeah, Jergens Glow, it is a good body lotion that gives you a gradual tan. plus it softens your skin.
Reply:Tanning products like the one you are looking for are much safer than tanning beds. You could reach and excellent skin tone with “Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Spray-Deep”. You could find it at Target. It is sunless and you don’t have to rub it, just let it dry for a few minutes. The problem with all this products is that if you don’t apply it correctly you could get “over tanned” in some specific areas. That means that you will have some ugly spots if you over apply it in certain areas of your body. Just follow the instructions and keep trying until you master it! Be careful with products that offer you others benefits besides the tanning benefit (e.g. moisturizer), this could take off the quality of the tanning product. Remember, you are looking for a high quality tanning product. If you also want moisturizer go to the moisturizer section of the store.

Tanning at Xtreme Sport Fitness Gym in Chicago, Ilinois?

has anyone been tanning at Xtreme before? im not sure if this particular gym is in any other state besides Illinois. I've heard stories about the tanning beds and i want to be able to work out and go tanning without having to drive anywhere..thanks.
Tanning at Xtreme Sport Fitness Gym in Chicago, Ilinois?
Well, I myself havent heard anything bad about people using the Xtreme Sport Fitness Tanning facilities, that place is growing like flies, and they must be doing alot of things right.

I have been there before, but not for tanning, and they are a pretty decent place for working out, so I am assuming that it should be a nice place to get a tan.

Tanning? only once~?

ok I looked up tanning beds on yahoo image and the second pic was of a HORRIBLE(not enough to describe it) burned hand~ and then the article had pics that made my knees shake~

so I was wondering~ how bad would it be if I only try tanning once and once only~

a tanning bed? and um would I get skin cancer? plz help!
Tanning? only once~?
Even once increases your chance of getting skin cancer. 1 in 4 people will get skin cancer in their life times. Pretty scary huh?

In tanning beds the UV rays release Endorphins which seep into your body which makes you addicted to them. One time might not seem like much, but then you will want to go again and again and again. Don't go. I have fair skin but i use jergans and it makes me have a nice glow and it's not orangey or streaky.
Tanning? only once~?
Well going to a tanning bed once wouldnt give you much color, not enough to notice it anyway....I wouldnt recommend going at all.

Instead, try a sunless tanner.
Reply:take it off
Reply:dude, once is harmless. the person who works at the tanning place will no way let you go for that long.
Reply:Well, it wouldn't be an entirely isolated event because it will add to all over UV exposure in your life. It's not worth it.. don't do it.
Reply:DON'T TRY IT... if you even do one you will get addicted.. so DO NOT TRY IT!!!
Reply:I don't think you get skin cancer from going once. My sister goes all the time and her skin is fine. But, I'm not an expert.
Reply:ok... my mom owns a spa they do spray tans and it matches up with your skin tone and you cant get burned... i wouldnt suggest tanning beds my sister went and she was total burnt and then her doctor said not to do it again cuz it can ruin your skin... so i would go with spray tans from a salon/spa... and with spray tans you can go like 2 times a week... you dont put any make up or mostirizes on the day of the tan or the night before

i hope i helped =]
Reply:Tanning one time would not be worth the time or money. Tanning takes time to develop and if you end up going to a tanning salon, make sure to start out with a very short time 5-8 min especially if you go late in the day - the beds will be hot. Tan every other day for about 2 weeks and then increase your time 1-2 minutes every other session. Tanning beds can be very safe if done correctly and sensibly. If you turn pink, do not go back for at least 48 hours, and decrease your time a little. A good tanning salon will not let you overdo it due to the high cost of tanning salon insurance. Ask a lot of questions, and make sure you let the salon know if you are taking any photosensitive drugs as you can burn.

Good luck and do not be scared.
Reply:The tanning bed has a lot of IR and UVA rays those are bad or the skin so I recommend tanning lotions, aveeno has a good one that let you choose the level of tanning, and wont harm your skin
Reply:no you wouldnt only if you do it in the sun and do it sparingly because if tanning was deadly than hollywood would be gone. if you are that scared get a spray on tan!
Reply:You are not going to get cancer from one visit.

It is possible to burn just depends on your skin and the length of time you lay. I tan myself indoors and out it is your choice.

Take a look at the link. It's your choice in who and what you want to believe!
Reply:Using a tanning bed once is very harmless. Although I would have to admitt there very relaxing and you'll most likely get hooked (I did!) But using it more than a couple of times does put you at risk of developing skin cancer. I've been tanning since I was 14. And dont have it yet but whos to say I will develop it later in life. Plus you must check out the local tanning place find one that is very sanitary and trusty. And if they dont provide you with a baking timer bring one your self and set it! Good Luk my TANNING friend!!!
Reply:tanning only once won't tan you... burning happens from over expossure ( people in a hurry to tan) you should start at 5 minutes every other day (if you are fair skin and burn) after a week try it for 6 minutes every day.. if you tan easilly start at 6 minutes every day and gradualy work your way up every other day to keep the tan...(never tan more often than 24 hours)

Tanning with piercing?

i just got my belly button pierced about 2 and a half weeks ago, on august 20th, and i really want to tan because homecomming dance is on sept. 29th and i want to tan for it, can i do a tanning bed/spray with the piercing?
Tanning with piercing?
uh yea, you can tan, its fine.
Tanning with piercing?
yea you should be ok
Reply:Regular sunlight is usually not a problem, as long as care is taken that no sunscreens or tanning lotions get into the piercing. Tanning beds can pose a problem however, because the concentrated light can heat up the metal of your jewelry very quickly, which can burn you. It is advised that you avoid tanning beds for at least a month after getting your piercing, and after that, that you cover it with a small piece of cotton, or other cloth, while in the tanning booth
Reply:You can tan with a piercing. I'd be careful about sprays ... you don't want anything foreign entering the wound.

Are you maybe thinking of tattoos %26amp; tanning? That's when you want to avoid tanning .. it fades the ink.
Reply:Bed yes, spray no. I really don't suggest doing a mystic tan during the healing process, think of your piercing as an open wound, you don't want to get any crap in it! As for your jewelry heating up and burning you I've never heard a customer or friend complain of that, and it's certainly never happend to me.
Reply:yes
Reply:Never mind the health problems that can come with tanning, either with a tanning bed or natural sunlight. However if you're still instant on tanning, why not just wear a shirt? At least part of your skin will be somewhat protected.
Reply:I'd cover up that one area with something. I've tanned with my nose stud... never got burned by it.
Reply:Neither. Both are bad for it, and bad for you, and not exactly attractive.

i personally dont think u should use the tanning oil, i think it looks fake. (no offense) i would use juz sunscreen and dip in the water and lay out to tan because the water attracts the sun and shows more of a nicer tan. but like u were askin, i think it will be effective if u mix the two. im not sure though, try askin ur parents and see what they think.

Tanning booths for people with fair skin?

I NEVER friggen tan! I'm either red or white! I use the self tanning lotion, but its a pain in the ****! I really want to try a tanning booth, but I'm afraid I'll just burn. Will I burn? Should I just stick to my lotion?
Tanning booths for people with fair skin?
I've been tanning since I was 16 (nothing to brag about). I'm fair skinned by nature (they call me the white Latina) and I hated self tanners too which is why I chose the tanning bed method. Here are the facts (my mother-in-law owns a tanning salon). If you are fair skinned and do not tan in the sun, you are HIGHLY unlikely to tan in a tanning bed. If you burn and DO NOT tan in the sun, you WILL burn and NOT tan in a tanning bed. These are the facts. If you go to any reputable tanning salon, they will give you a form to fill out and either advise you not to, or let you tan 2-3 minutes at a time. OR, they will straight out tell you NO you will not tan. I would recommend a spray tanning booth. A lot of salons are offering this. My mother-in-law has quite a few clients who come in and do this rather than run the risk of skin cancer (yes tanning beds ARE as bad as the sun). Good luck!
Tanning booths for people with fair skin?
I would stick to lotion. I have the same problem - i used to use holiday skin but after a while it went horrible, i now use dove summer glow its alot better. You should try it :)
Reply:If you have fair skin you will almost certainly burn from a tanning bed. Plus why subject your poor skin to such abuse??? If the lotion is a pain in the **** try mysitc tan, spray-on tan that is done professionally so it comes out evenly, it's relatively inexpensive and they are starting to offer it in more and more tanning places.
Reply:Spray on tan machine.
Reply:Go to a salon that does spray tans. They work well and you won't have to worry about getting skin cancer.
Reply:Doves tan in a bottle!
Reply:The tanning places offer spray tans. I go once a week. It's even and natural looking and I will not end up with skin cancer or age spots or wrinkles :) It looks really nice.

You can go in a tanning bed. If you are really white they will not let you stay in for long. Just ask the girl at the front desk what she thinks. They know if the bulbs in the beds are new or not.

I recommend the spray or mistic tan. It looks like you just got back from Mexico not the Wanka shop.
Reply:You should stick with not even trying. That is, unless you really do want to develop all kinds of skin cancers.
Reply:Yes, the only way is to start out very slow. It will be frustrating, because it will seem like you aren't getting any tan. Give it time, and you will develop a nice tan, but just take it slow. 5 min at first, do that for a week, then move up to 7 or 8; it is slow, but you will tan instead of burn.

good luck!
Reply:Don't do it! Will result in skin cancer, age spots, spider veins, wrinkles and all kinds of awful things.
Reply:Try the Mystic tan. I doesn't turn you orange and you won't have to worry about your skin looking like shoe leather by the time you're 40.
Reply:Don't do it!!!! Tanning booths are addictive and regular use promotes the big C. Definitely not worth it. Why not be "Pale and Interesting" it's just as cool as having a tan.
Reply:do a mystic tan. i love them. they are cheap, quick and have excellent results
Reply:If you're fair skinned like me, chances are you can't tan very easily. I've tanned in regular tanning beds every day for 2 months %26amp; never got a noticable tan. My mom is fair skinned too and swears by the high pressure tanning beds but they're WAY more expensive. I personally haven't tried them though. I've gone the self tanning lotion route off %26amp; on for years but I've never been totally satisfied with the results. I also tried the Mystic Tan thing where you stand in the booth and get spray tanned. It's ok but I still had some streaks. If you don't stand perfect you can come out looking like a zebra. lol I just recently started getting airbrush tanned though and I LOVE it. It's great having someone else stand there applying the stuff to you, getting it even, and getting the spots that are hard for you to reach or see. It's a little pricey, but in my opinion it's well worth it. Especially for someone like me who just can't tan the natural way. I look and feel so much better since I've been doing it. Besides, it's safer for you too cuz it doesn't cause cancer. Good luck getting tan!

Tanning Question?

So, I have never been tanning (and usually I would just go the natural route but the weather in Maryland has been horribly crappy- think 40 degrees and rainy- and it doesn't look like natural will be ) and I am going to in order to be tan for prom. I'm not looking to be an oompa loompa or bronze, I would just like a nice light tan. My prom is in about 4 weeks. How many times a week should I go and for how long should I stay in the bed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Tanning Question?
It all depends on the color of your skin. You should talk to someone at the tanning salon, by looking at you they will know how long you should go for the first time. The standard bed goes for 20 mins max. If you have somewhat pale skin I would suggest going in the first time for about 6 mins and then each time increase by 1 to 2 minutes depending on how you feel. Everyone is different, but the worst thing would be to go in for too long and be burnt. If this happens you have to wait a very long time before you can go again. Usually tanning salons have deals for a month membership which is perfect for you because your prom is in about a month. If you go every 2 days for a week, you will be the best judge of how much color you want and can determine how many time and how long you want to go from there on.

good luck
Tanning Question?
Don't go to a tanning bed, go to get a spray-on tan the

day before your prom. It looks better and isn't bad for

your skin...
Reply:I would go a few times a week [3-4], but make sure you don't over-do it for your own body! Also, if you just want a very light tan you might try self tanner?
Reply:I sun-burned a peace sign into my stomach this weekend. Just don't fall asleep on the bed and wake up three hours later like I did in the sun in my friends backyard. HAHA
Reply:well, you should go about once a week for ONLY 30 minutes at a time. the first time, go for 30, and gradually back off on minutes each week. you can always darken, but it is HARD to lighten. TAKE IT EASY!
Reply:Really you should use a tanning lotion it gives you a nice tan and it also keeps your skin noce and moisturized which is way better then the tanning bed your your likely to get a bit burnt.
Reply:don't expose your skin to tanning devices. they can cause skin cancer and premature wrinking. better use a very good Clarins self tanning cream or get yourself a body tan spray...

i am sure you will look great.

good luck
Reply:I would recommend a self-tanner. Less exposure to the sun and tanning beds are the best for your skin. 90% of your skin's aging comes from uv rays.

BeautiControl has some awesome products that give you a nice bronze color within 24 hours. The face product has been listed on www.sunless.com as well. It will cost you less than a tanning package and you will have better looking skin as you age. Which means less anti-aging products you will have to buy in the future.

Wear broad spectrum sunscreens and use self-tanners. That's my recommendation.
Reply:don't go to a tanning bed. i'm 26 and i had to have surgery for skin cancer last summer. use lotion instead.
Reply:If you choose a good salon they will tell you. I really can't say because i dont know your skin type. Usually take it slow... go 1st then wait a few days if your burn, then go about 3x for the first week, then once achieve tan you want then go about twice a week. But like i said ask someone at the salon and they will tell you what they recommend.

Tanning lotions and tips please!?

Okay...so I really wanna be tan and does anyone know what tanning lotions are really good without the streaks? Also does the spray tan work that good? If so, how much does it usually cost and do you have to get naked? thanks if you can answer! %26lt;3
Tanning lotions and tips please!?
I absolutely love Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion, Medium Skin Tones. No streaking whatsoever, and a really nice glow. The color is a believable-looking tan, not orange and it moisturize. It doesn't look good if you apply it on your feet.
Tanning lotions and tips please!?
Spray tans can be costly...especially since they only last about a week. You would be looking at anywhere from $30 to $50 a week. You don't have to get naked. Try a gradual tanner like Jergens or Dove, or an at home spray. There are a lot of brands that have a spray product that will give you similar results without the price. Just remember to exfoliate your skin before applying the tanner or going for a spray tan so you don't end up with an uneven mess. Also...don't do a Ross.
Reply:if you want to get a tan, don't use sun screen and go through hell for a week
Reply:get outside boy. hahha. but really , it's the best way .all those lotions will give you orange/ streaky skin. you probably look too good for that.

Whats a good face tanning lotion? MY FACE WONT TAN!?

I have been going to the tanning booth for a while but since I started getting a little acne I have been exfoliating a lot and now my face is white and my body is really tan. I cant get my face to tan and I cant tan my face too much because it will make my acne leave marks. Does anyone know if there is a good face tanning lotion out there? I am kinda sceptical but if anyone has had any good experience with one please let me know! My face is hecka white. lol
Whats a good face tanning lotion? MY FACE WONT TAN!?
designer skin is one of the best products for tanning they make awsome lotions.. if you go to there web site they have facial tanners that you wear while your tanning!
Whats a good face tanning lotion? MY FACE WONT TAN!?
There's a facial self-tanner by Jergens that works nicely.

I was the same as you, but I got to look pretty good.
Reply:volocity i think the brand is australian gold..its a miracle worker!!
Reply:I think nuetrogena has a good one, I am not sure of the name though....
Reply:Use Estee Lauder Self Tanner. It works wonderfully
Reply:that brozing lotion works good....just make sure watever u use ...use gloves to apply it...or youll have weird color hands..
Reply:well the more u exfoliate the more your face can like break out so you should only do that like 2-3 times a week. the other days just wash it with a face wash but if you use jergins natural glow i wana say that should help you out
Reply:My sister started tanning her face to reduce acne also but you need to start covering your face, the bulbs on the tanning bed cause serious wrinkles. I would look into some darkening face lotions like Jergens or Olay they have the sun kind that will make your skin appear darker and the lotion hydrates your skin.

Good Luck! ~CRG
Reply:I've used a lot of the self tanning moisturizers with DHA and the best ones usually have color added to them in addition to the DHA which reacts with the top layer of your skin to make it tanned.

If you want quicker results without having to apply moisterizers every day (which take about a week for the color to show), go to a tanning place which will spray tan your face. I've gotton a spay on tan myself and it looked amazing, but I know that they can also just spray the face.

Another option is just buying a powder bronzer. I use one sometimes when I want to look tanned. My body always holds its tan for months, but my face always seems white. I got tired of moisturizers and didn't have time to go for the spray tan so I just apply some bronzer in the morning for that nice tan glow.

Tanning in sun and artificially?

Which is worse, sun tanning or going to a tanning bed? How can I convince my girlfriend that tanning in general is bad for you?
Tanning in sun and artificially?
Actually, the UV rays from a tanning bed are worse than the natural sun (and you are putting your body much closer in the tanning bed). Try Googling melanoma, and showing her the pics. I used to live in FL, and people used to think I was underage (I'm in my 30s), b/c I don't have sun damage. Man, looking at some of those people will have you RUNNING for the sunscreen! Maybe you can buy her a bottle of Jergens Natural GLow (self-tanner), and apply it for her. Make it really nice-spread out an old towel, light some candles, put on music, get her a glass of wine, and go for it. It's really easy, and pretty foolproof. The Jergens Glow Face even has SPF 20 now, so she can be tan and protected, too.
Tanning in sun and artificially?
tanning beds are worse for you as they use far stronger uvB radiation. you can't do much except tell her how awful she'll look when she's old. and you can try convincing her she looks better w/o one to you.
Reply:They're both bad for you. It is possible to get a natural looking tan without endangering your skin--

http://mind-mart.com/tanning/
Reply:Both are horrible. Doctors are finding skin cancer in patients in their early to mid twenties because of the tanning bed trend. also let her know this will make her look much older and her skin will be thick and splotchy. No amount of botox will fix that as it is not what it is for. Tell her to get spray tanned if she wants the tanned look. Her skin and health will thank her in the upcoming years.
Reply:both are bad, tan is no longer healthy looking, both can cause serious skin problems, my 2 adult children has skin cancer, its on the increase
Reply:This Mays addition of Allure was focused on skin cancer awareness. Just buy the magazine and let it do the talking for you. You cant convince somone to quit unhealty behavior- they have to make that decision by themselves. Just tell her you want her to make an informed decision, and then let it go. You can only do so much.
Reply:I am a girl and i know from exprience that thy will want to be tan I also know that my parents are doctors and show me pictures of people with skin cancer as a result of tanning. if you go to google.com type in skin cancer from tanning on the images box and show them to her it may change her opinion and if not make sure that when sheis xposed to sun or uv rays to put sunscreen on every hour to try to prevent it as much as possible. DID THAT HELP?
Reply:there both probably the same because the sun has been getting worse because the UV rays are getting stronger. And the tanning beds UV rays r very strong any ways.
Reply:tanning beds r WAY worse than just laying out in the sun tell your gf that its bad and it will make her ugly and give her wrinkles and maybe do sum reasearch and show her sum bad pictures to gross her out or u can just tell her its bad and if she still doesnt lisien just ignore it ,it is her business but she shouldnt go tanning GOOD LUCK
Reply:Show her pictures of bad tanning consquences off the net and tell her that her skin is beautiful as it is.

Tanning and Vitamin D.?

Hello,

I have a few questions about Vitamin D.

In 'normal' words(non-geeky) what does Vitamin D does to my body?

... I Heard sunlight gives you Vitamin D.. so, is there any way to get a very good amount of Vitamin D without having to tan, like not even a little of tan..

I really hate tanning!
Tanning and Vitamin D.?
yes sunlight gives you vitamin D. Wear Sun tan lotion? Well I'm not sure if it would still seep into your body. Not sure. But V. D does come from the sun. You can probably take tablets or something if you really want it. Your the first person I heard who hates tanning.
Tanning and Vitamin D.?
TRY THE HERBAL STORES, THEY WILL GIVE YOU ADVICE ON VITAMINS AND WHAT DOES WHAT. OR JUST PUT VITAMIN D IN SEARCH?
Reply:Vit D helps our bodies absorb minerals, such as calcium. That's just one of the things it does.

It is not necessary at all to "tan" to get your Vitamin D.

For one thing, in many countries Vitamin D is added to milk. Read your carton/jug to see if it is already in your milk.

Also, I read awhile ago that all people need to get the right amount of Vit D from the sun would be to expose 1 square inch of skin to the sun for 15 min per day. Obviously, no one is going to do that, but what it means is that if your arms are not covered, and you just go outside for a minute or 2, you'll get enough vitamin D.

The paler your skin is, the better it is as using the sun to make Vit D.

Use baby oil it smells good and it works.

Why not use fake tan, or the Johnsons one that gradually builds up a tan? Or spray tan?

They do the same thing as tanning beds but there is no risk of skin cancer with them, and they mosturise your skin.

Sorry if its not what you were looking for...

Tanning help?

i went to a tanning bed for the first time today. the lady said only 8 minutes and i knew i wouldnt see results after the first couple of times, so is there any way to quicken the process? like maybe a lotion i can use to make my tan darker faster? and how many times a week do you think i should go to get a dark tan, (im fair right now)
Tanning help?
okay, tanning a few times is not going to kill you. it sounds like you're just trying to get a little color, not turn dark orange so i recommend following her instructions. when you go back she'll tell you how much longer you can stay. DO NOT stay in longer than she tells you unless you want to burn. also, at the tanning place they should have indoor tanning lotions. i recommend going once every 5 days until you get the color you want, then once every 2 weeks just to keep it up.

good luck %26amp; enjoy! :] tanning is super relaxing.
Tanning help?
you could use bronzer. and you shouldnt go to a tanning place because it gives you cancer
Reply:Well, it is bad for you, but if you just go for a while, I'd increase it. If you've gone a couple of times it's time to up it. I'd try 15 minutes. If you start feeling a burning-ness while in there though, just hop out and be done. You need to increase the time if you want to see results.
Reply:well... u could do the spray tan. it's safer and has immediate results, only thing is that it doesn't last a long. but, they have lotions that speed up the process. ask the girl that works there. they will give you good recommendations, but the ones with bronzers in them work well. also, i'd go every other day.. in a week or 2 weeks you'll notice it.

(i'm jealous. i'm pg and white cuz i can't tan lol.)

Tanning help?

im fair skinned and i dont get an even tan if i sit in the sun! my arms get dark pretty fast but thats it, i want to try sunless tanning, like go to a tanning salon. but i wonder if it will make me look too dark or orange? how do i find out wat shade will look good with me and how it will come out?
Tanning help?
Beauty of tanning salons is that you can go there until you achieve color that you like and than you just have to maintenance. You can't look orange, orange color stays if you use self-tanning lotion,
Tanning help?
I'm fair skinned too... Personally, I'd rather be a little fair and not have wrinkles when I'm sixty. If I were you, I'd just find a nice bronzer that works for your face and one for your body (for collarbones and decollete, if you're wearing something low-cut) and slather on the sun lotion. Wearing neutral, brown tones will play up any color you have. Avoid pastels like the plague. If you want to self-tan, use a product that builds gradually, as they look more natural. And don't use it so much that it looks weird on you.. Just get a little golden color and stop.

Tanning while on a Juice Fast?

Tanning while on a juice fast?

I am planning on going onto a juice fast on tuesday. I love to be in the sun, with bronzer and oil and all. I was wondering if tanning is bad for your body when you are detoxifying? I know that when you tan, you sweat, so I was thinking that it would hep bring out impurities.
Tanning while on a Juice Fast?
Sunbathing is good for you but putting oil and bronzer on your skin is very unhealthy. Your skin knows how to tan without it. See site below.

Tanning bed or not?

I've never gotten a tan before, but yesterday I was out on the beach all day and I got a weird farmers tan...so Im trying to even it out....I heard bad things about tanning beds? but are they really bad? I want to go to one.
Tanning bed or not?
tanning is bad. you will get cancer!
Tanning bed or not?
i am not sure but i would try!:-) i mean whats going 2 happen?:-)
Reply:Tanning beds always burn me for some reason, and they aren't good for your skin. There are some tanning salons that do the spray tan and it looks amazing - maybe you might wanna try that.
Reply:Tanning beds are very dangerous. They lead to skin cancer, but I'm sure you already know that. You should get some sunless tanning lotion or consider spray on tan to even your tan lines.
Reply:NO. They're bad. Dont' do it.
Reply:i really don't think you should go - i've always heard really bad things about them. personally, i have a weird tan from track (sock tan and shorts tan) and so i just use lighter SPF sunscreen on the paler parts, or cover the tan parts while sitting outside, and i bet spray-on tan does a pretty good job (from what i've seen).
Reply:Tanning beds are fine. Just don't make a habit out of using them!!!
Reply:if u tan to much it may make u look good now but later u will have horrible wrinkles, maybe skin cancer, and who knows what???so no,no tanning bed-
Reply:tanning beds are very bad you can get skin cancer use a self tanner insed
Reply:No
Reply:get 30 plus protected tan cream so you won't get cancer and then get sunless tan cream it is great for you skin and you still can lay in the sun but now you are protected
Reply:Tanning beds are so gross! Think about it: you are going to lie on a piece of glass that other people have lain NAKED on, with goopy stuff all over their bodies, sweating their behinds off on! It's disgusting. I know so many people that have worked at gyms where they have tanning beds, and they all say the same thing: they're DISGUSTING! If you want a good tan, go to a tanning BOOTH. You don't have to put your body on anything that other people have been naked on, and you still get a really good tan.
Reply:they cause cancer after you using them, skin cancer, and they also make you orange,

i think you should go tanning a couple more times in the sun and just keep moving around your bathing suit.
Reply:Don't use a tanning bed. It's not worth it. Use a tanning lotion or something like that.
Reply:welli i dont think that you should because all my friends went there and they got burnt really easily, so i think that you should try things like mystic tan, which would even it out really good.
Reply:Try every other day for a week for 5-8minutes. Cover up the the already tanned parts with sun block. Maybe that will help with the farmers tan.

I think it's when people get burned in the beds or do it everyday, or continuously do it over a long period of time...is when problems start to arise
Reply:i once heard a tanning salon employee say that we need to get tanned at least twice a month in the winter time so that we can keep on the vitamins for our skin.

maybe she was referring to carcinogen-B12?
Reply:Tanning beds can be bad for you. The UV rays do damage your skin and promote the chance of getting skin cancer, a very bad cancer.

One or two sessions a season won't be that bad, but I think that your best bet is to get an artificial tan. They have sprays, gels, and even wipes. That way you can even out your tan.
Reply:I have gone tanning and it's kind of nice. I always fall asleep. It's bad for you if you go alot but once in a while it's bad for you, just put lotion on. They have really good lotions at the places where you tan so try it.
Reply:I've heard bad things about tanning beds also, and I've seen the effects on my cousin and a few friends. My cousin used to go at least once a week, and she started to get white bumps on her skin, and they haven't gone away...they look like scars now...not attractive! That was a year ago and she still has the scars. One of my friends went, and she got an a virus called mollecosum contagiosum. It is a virus that gives you a nasty rash. It took several treatments for it to go away (4 months!) and all because the tanning beds weren't sanitized...So, my recommendation, don't go! Lay out in the sun more and it will eventually go away...It just might take a little longer!
Reply:well yeah it can be bad. but there is now one with no UV rays, or so I heard. and theres also the spray... that atns u

but hey if u just go to even the tan i dont think it can be that bad!
Reply:No tanning beds. So bad for your skin. Try self tanning. I use Neutrogena Instant Bronzer. Works wonders!
Reply:When the process of indoor tanning is respected it can be more effective than tanning outdoors. Indoor tanners are exposed to a scientifically controlled dosage of UV light carefully formulated to tan you with a minimal risk of sunburn. That kind of control is virtually impossible outdoors, where variables such as seasonality, time of day, location, geography, and weather conditions make sunburn much more likely. Overall, the results and convenience of indoor tanning allows a year round healthy looking tan without concerns or prolonged exposure to the burning rays of the sun.

XOXOX!
TANNING!!!!!! help please!!!!!!!!!?
i use the regular bed, for 20 min. a session 7x/week...in my opinion, the bronzing beds are overrated (which i think u are refering to as the "tropical bed")...i have been told that u will get a more bronze skin tone, because these beds emit more uvb than uva light %26amp; it is deeper in the skin tissue...the regular beds are supposed to give more of a pink skin tone, more like the regular sun, because they have more of the uva light...i have used the bronzing beds before, but i was not satisfied as i actually lost some of my color, even when i alternated with a regular bed at the same time, doing them on alternate days...so, in my opinion, i think u could just use the regular bed %26amp; have a good color...i am super-dark just by using the normal bed...u might want to try one of the "tingle" lotions, that`s what i use %26amp; u will get very dark, because they contain ingredients that increase blood flow %26amp; help u tan much darker...some good ones are made by swedish beauty, pro tan %26amp; fiesta sun...my favorite is "hot tottie", which is produced by pro tan...hope this helps!!! happy tanning!!!
TANNING!!!!!! help please!!!!!!!!!?
Lay out in the sun for 30mins a day for the next 2 weeks...you will have an awesome tan!
Reply:i only have one piece of advice : go commando and you will have an amazing tan... no matter where you wanna get it

Lollie xoxo
Reply:Yes! Use the regular bed, but just make sure they give you more minutes! Try doing like 15 minutes on the regular bed because it's about the same as 9 minutes on the tropical bed. Make sure you use a good tanning lotion before you get in the bed and exfoliate and moisturize everyday! Good luck!
Reply:Hi Becky, are you aware of the dangers of tanning salons? I've done so for a number of years and was lucky enough not to have contracted melanoma; however, there are other ways to safely get that awesome tan you long for. Have you tried tan towels (I got them through either QVC or HSN) and they actually do work. It takes a bit to do it right so you don't have streaks anywhere but in the long run, they really work. I read the one answer where a member suggested to lay out in the sun for the next two weeks. Obviously, she lives in an area where that is possible. Not so here in VA! We've had awful weather in the past weeks and aside from today, no way to lay out. I assume the same goes for you. If you do decide on tanning beds, make sure you do spend the extra money on protective lotion. The tingling kind works best. I sure understand about the low money, but try Walmart or other big department stores, they have it cheaper than the salons and it works just as well. The cheapest I have found was at "Big Lots" but again, I am not sure if you have one in your area. As far as the difference in beds, the tropical ones have stronger bulbs and usually are equipped with a facial bronzer. If you already have a base tan, than the tropical beds will surely work a lot faster, and your tan will remain longer and deeper on your body. Like I said, never ever without protective lotion though. Always keep your bottoms on and clean the beds before going on. I even began taking a small bottle of lysol with me! The 50 dollar difference shout not really be an issue if you spent 1K in one day. Forget it Hon, I am just jealous :) But please do invest in a good protective lotion, as well as goggles. While I know of the dangers of tanning salons, I do believe that the natural sunlight isn't much better in the health department either! Enjoy your tan, I know it makes me feel better every time. Beside, I started tanning for medical reasons, believe it or not. I have a disease that becomes easier to endure when my muscles get a real good warm up, especially before exercise or massage; however, it has kept me incapacitated for the past 4 month (cold weather causes havoc on my body!). I can't wait for the sun to return and once I have my tan back, I know that will help me a lot, at least it will help my mood and bring back the fighter in me (no, not a real fighter :), just enough strength to fight my disease). Go enjoy your tan... Hugs, MsB.
Reply:In my experience, regular beds are good to get started, but the stronger beds will give you a nice tan much faster after you have a good base tan. You also spend less time in the bed, which is great for me, because I get bored in there pretty quickly. I'm sure your salon offers upgrades. If you get the one month membership for the reg. bed, you can upgrade once a week to the tropical. Just look into it and see if it will actually save you money. Happy tanning to ya.
Reply:I would suggest spray tanning as opposed to a tanning bed. It costs about $25 for a full body tan, you can get it as light or dark as you want in one day, it only takes one application, and depending on how well your skin holds the color, it stays anywhere from 5 - 14 days. Spray tanning does not harm your skin, but it can feel sticky for a little while, and it is good to make sure you shower earlier in the day, as if you get wet too soon, it could wash off quickly. However, you may wish for a trial run first on your arms or legs if you've never spray tanned at this place before, to make sure you enjoy the way they spray, get used to the feel of it (it feels like you're getting spraypainted, and it's chilly at first), and that it doesn't turn your skin orange. I've spray tanned many times, some of which came out better than others. It's honestly the cheapest, least time-consuming, and least harmful to your skin. If you're going to a formal event on a certain day, the best time to spray tan is 2-3 days before the event. Good luck!

i usually apply lotion after i tan if it`s going to be a while until i hit the shower...otherwise, i just wait til after i bathe...
Best lotion for after tanning?
After your shower while your skin is still slightly damp. Nivea Cream is the best
Reply:I bought an after tan lotion from the tanning salon I go to and it works just like every other lotion. I would suggest you put lotion on after you shower and after you tan. Lotion helps keep your skin moisturized so you can hold you tan longer.

What is the best tanning lotion/spray that looks 'the most' natural?

I just want a little bit of color. NOT orange. I hate that tanning bed orange look. Its already fall here, and too cold outside to tan now. What do you think is the best tanning lotion/mist/spray/wipes or whatever, to get a slight bit of color.

My skin is literally white (yes truly WHITE), I tanned all summer, and it faded in a week or so. I don't want to go into a tanning bed, cause I'm not looking like leather when I get older, and I don't want skin cancer. I think its pretty sometimes, but sometimes it gets on my nerves when I want to look good in a bathing suit, or shorts or whatever.

I've tried jergans and netregiena, but they both give me a wierd look over my pale skin. it looks orangish almost, its nasty looking. I want to get tan faster, so whats the best to use that will also be semi-permantant on my skin? I don't want that washing off stuff, cause I have it, and when I sweat it comes off on other peoples clothing and its embarassing :D! Thanks!
What is the best tanning lotion/spray that looks 'the most' natural?
try fake bake, celebrity endorsed by madonna and britney spears ( but i suggest you try a spot-test first before applying it to your whole body) and dont forget to wear gloves-you dont want orange palmz..gross
What is the best tanning lotion/spray that looks 'the most' natural?
Have a professional do it. Not onlly looks better but lasts longer.
