i guess i have fair skin and im really pale. i read in a lot of places to stay out of the sun, but when i use tanning lotions or sprays they make me look orange since im so pale, and i dont think i can afford a membership at a tanning bed place
is there a way to get a tan safely?
Tanning help?
Use a15 spf face and body lotion before going to the pool, and you'll be able to get a "safer" tan. :)

Tanning help?
i have the same problem, but im basically still pale, i really dont care, but you can try to put on some sunscreen and go out into the sun so you wont burn, but dont put on sunblock, because then you wont even get a tan!
Reply:Tanning beds are the beds of the devil! If you make your bed in a tanning salon you are going to have to lie in it i.e. cancer! I also have fair skin and you can suck it!
Reply:just lay out in the sun, and start off w/ 30 spf suntan lotion. Once you get a base tan, work your way up to 15 spf, and then to 8 spf once you have a pretty good tan goin on.
you can also use tanning oil.
Laying out is safer than tanning beds, because UVA rays come from the sun, and they are blocked by sunscreen. Tanning beds emit UVB rays, and these in my opinion are more dangerous, plus they can't be blocked by many sunscreens.
also, go to weather.com and put in your area code. It will give you a forecast of your area, and include a UV index (which is on a scale of 1-10). You can try to get out on days that don't have a very high UV concentration.
Reply:Try dove holiday tan, its like a moisturiser with tanning lotion in it, it gradually builds every time you apply and is really light the first time you use it, i suggest using this every 3-4 days :)
Reply:I guess it just boils down to whether you would rather be tan or have skin cancer. If you are pale, you are the LAST person who should tan! In a booth, or at the beach! The truth is, skin cancer can lead to even more SERIOUS cancer! IT SPREADS!!! I KNOW that you want color, I GLOW IN THE DARK I'm so pale!!!! I want color too, but I wear 30 all of the time and still get burned! Don't worry about superficial things like tanning if it could harm your life! Why worry about a tan that could COST you your life????
Reply:there is no safe way to tan in the sun or tanning booth...this is true for everybody but ESPECIALLY for a fair skin-ed beauty like you! You will just go to the front of the line for skin cancer. I used tanning beds to help winter depression...usually once a week and I got a dark beach tan for a few years; I started getting lots of those dark spots (age spots). I'm not as pale as you but burn easily. You should look into the stuff they spray on you; I think it's the only thing that's safe,
