Is tanning bad for you?

Ok I don't go on tanning beds or lay in the sun for a long time but I do go out. Whenever I go out I try to go in the shade as much as possible. I can naturally get tan easily without the tanning bed or laying in the sun. Is my tan just as bad as someone on the tanning bed? I just turn tan if I go out even without being in the sun for a long time. My original skin color is peach. I hope my skin isn't aging faster or dying because I am not purposely tanning...I just go out like anyone else who can't easily tan. Is my tan just as bad as someone on the tanning bed? Or am I lucky I don't have to lay in the sun to tan?

Is tanning bad for you?
Tanning is a beneficial thing for the human body. If being in the sun caused the hyped up incredible damage, I doubt the human species would have survived...





UV sunlight is proven to kill the bacteria associated with acne.





You need sunlight to process certain vitamins - sunblock prevents most of this cellular synthesis.





Avoid products that reduce the natural ability of your body to block UV rays (increase photosensitivity) such as products containing triclosan, benzoyl peroxide, salyciclic acid, retinoids, and pretty much every conventional petro-product.





Enjoy the sun, but don't over-do it. Make your decisions based on your skin type. Get some sun, but don't burn your skin or you'll be causing the same damage inflicted by petro-chemicals such as premature aging and skin cancer.
Is tanning bad for you?
well to much of anything is bad. just use lotion with spf in it, youll be fine
Reply:well, you are suppose to get about 40 mins of sun in a day. thats healthy and good for you, but no more than that.
Reply:yea.... it can attribute to having freckles and wrinkles. Your skin will age fast and you'll look saggy
Reply:Stop stressing!! God didn't invent sunscreen so we managed fine for ages before someone did! A bit of sun is great for you and the only way you can get vitamin D in your body (I think it's D anyway). They say you should let babies get a bit of sun from time to time so they can get the vitamin. So as long as you're being sensible and aren't out there trying to fry yourself, you should be fine and I'm pretty sure a bit of sunlight is good for your skin. Makes it a bit tougher and more resiliant to future burning.
Reply:Not purposely tanning means you used sunscreen but it isn't work for some reason. Which if you apply it as necessary everything will be fine.





Tanning ages you %26amp; ups your chances for skin cancer. That means errands you may run outside w/o sunscreen, laying in the sun, or tanning beds. All of it is harmful.

Reply:A little sun is always healthy, but there is always a point where too much is not healthy. A tan is the skin's reaction to and a sign of damage. The skin has remarkable healing capabilities, but there is a point where it cannot recover. ie: Skin cancer.


Being very fair is difficult... I am too, and will burn very quickly.


I work nights, which might be a good thing! I bet I don't get 40 minutes of sun in 2 weeks.

Enjoy Mr. Sun for he is the best source of vitamin B %26amp; D and other needed additives of our carbon based units. Consequences :


Age faster


More prone to skin cancer





Unless you are like those South East Asians who have naturally tan skin, it's ok because you just naturally have more pigmentation and melinin on your skin.
