Well its time for me to start tanning, I have been scared out of going to tanning booths so I want to tan in my back yard. Will using Baby Oil help me get a better tan. I just realized that I am very pale!!! I live in Arizona and I want to have a nice tan for the summer.
Baby Oil %26amp; Tanning?
There's no such thing as a "healthy tan". . The melanin that your body produces is your body's attempt to protect itself from even further damage. All it means is cross-linking of the proteins in your skin, which makes it leathery over time for the same reason that your windsheld wipers become dry and cracked (the rubber becomes cross linked), and also gives you a much higher risk of skin cancer later on. Being out in the sun sometimes is fine, and may even be helpful with the production of natural vitamin D by your skin, but going out of your way to just bake in baby oil isn't a good idea.
Baby Oil %26amp; Tanning?
it is really good for getting skin cancer.
Reply:yes baby oil is OK=don't fall asleep though=you will get a bad burn
Reply:Using baby oil will guarantee you BURN. Did it alot when I was a teenager. Don't do it.
Reply:yes baby oil helps you get a tan, but be aware that if you are VERY pale it will probably cause you to burn as it contains no sunscreen and speeds up the tanning process...'maybe try tanning oils with low SPF in it (some say on the bottles 'dark tanning oil~ which ususally works really well)
Reply:Baby Oil will cook you. If you use it don't stay out too long the first time 20 minutes. You'll burn. And you do know that there is no sun screen in baby oil.
Reply:Sure- and eventually you'll look like a leather handbag like most other women who spend too much time baking in the sun.
Reply:Y9ou'll burn badly just using baby oil......start with and spf 30 and then a 15.....or better yet.....stay out of the sun and go to a tan spray booth.....much much safer and faster. No UV, and a more even tan than with lotions.
Reply:Baby oil works wonders AFTER you have a base tan. Start slow or you will burn. Use Panama Jack tanning oil with at least 4 UV rating to begin with, then use baby oil after tanning for about 3 weeks.
Reply:no it will burn and dehydrate you, and do you want cancer?
my mom used baby oil for tanning when i was younger and se ended up in the hospital with 3rd degree burns
Reply:DONOT USE BABY OIL! Baby oil will draw the sun too harshly to you. Go and get the highest SPF protection sunscreen (usually 30). You need that for your fair skin---especially in Arizona where you have dry heat (there isn't as much humidity, but the temps there soar higher than most places because much of Arizona is not a great distance from barren desert). I'm not trying to be bossy, but please listen to me. I went there in 1979. I thought the sun was a little hot, but pleasant. I got one of the worst sun burns I ever had because of the facts I mentioned concerning Arizona. I don't blame anyone. How can you blame anyone or be blamed for what you didn't know? I'm fair-skinned too...I know where you're coming from.
Reply:An oil based tanning spray with a little SPF is best. Straight baby oil will probably fry you. I am not sure why you thing tanning outside is more safe than tanning at a salon where they have controlled UV.
But either way Happy Tanning!
