I'm very pale, and now that it's bathing suit season I really want a good tan. I don't have the time or patience to lay outside for long periods of time, and I'm not crazy about tanning beds.
Has anybody gone to a tanning salon, and gotten a spray tan there? Do they work? How dark do they make you? Does it look natural or does it make you look orange? How much does it usually cost? Do most salons have these machines? Any additional information or personal experiences that you can share would be a great help! :)
Faux Tanning!?
i work at a tanning salon. spray tans are good although the dha bronzer in the solution strips in chlorine. they make you about 2 shades darker each time you go. it looks natural on some people but it looks fake on others. it also depends on how well you take care of it. it usually costs around 20 dollars depending on where you go.
Faux Tanning!?
You can look it up in the yellowpages to see if theres a salon by you. Theyre not cheap at all. Some claim to last a week - 2 weeks. But none do. They always look orange at first but aftter th first day or 2 that goes away as it starts to fade. I dint think its worth the price. Try the Jergens daily glow. You apply it daily to achieve the color u want so u can avoid the orangey color. But all tanner have the ability to get orange because of the DHA.
Reply:I really go prefer using self tanner lotions rather than the mystic/spray on at the salons...it is very irregular in results, depending on your skin type and how your skin reacts to the spray. Usually it can leave stains on the hands and feet, sometimes even knees, especially if you are dry in those areas.
If you are going to try it ( I tried it once, and would recommend it for an already tan person as a topper)...make sure to moisturize very well. I would exfoliate three days before you are going to go and then do a heavy moisturizer with lots of vitamin E in it, every day until the day comes. If you are left with some marks, use some lemon (it has acids in it) to remove stains - rub half a lemon on the stains.
If you want to try the self tanner route, use see-through plastic gloves to apply (you don't want orange hands!), moisturize right before you are going to apply it, and wait some time for it to dry. I really like Ban de Soleil creme lotion or Loreal Sublime lotion.
Good luck gettin tan!
