How to use tanning beds for the first time?

Im a guy in high school and in the winter months I can tend to get pasty and I have decided to use a tanning bed for the first time? I dont really care what people will think about it because I would rather be tan then be pale. How should I go about tanning for the first time. I dont want to be totally tan, I just want to have a kind of a glow if that makes since. How often should I go to the tanning beds and for how long?

Normally when you go to a tanning salon the person(s) working there help with how long you should lay. Ask for their opinion based on your complexion. Tell them that you do not want the deep-brown look, but want a base tan, just something to get started and build on if necessary. Also, it might help if you buy some sort of tanning lotion. They offer numerous products at the salon, they are bit steap, but usually help you tan faster. Hope this helps!

Just start out slow and work your way up to the full time. If you are worried about your skin you can try a misting booth that just sprays lotion all over your body and it gradually turns darker. I have a tanning bed and in the winter time, it takes away my winter blues.
Reply:Go to a tanning place (I prefer the stand up tan booths) Let them know it's your first time...they will know by your skin tone how long you should go in for. Also, you can buy pkgs. of tanning lotion made for the tan beds/booths.....it helps keep your tan going ...Do Not Shower or Bath for at least 4hrs after you tan. I would recommend once every 5-7days for a bit until you have the glowing tan you want....then just once every 10-14 days to keep it going.

Keep on SMilin*
Reply:you should go to a proper tanning place and they tell you what to do! its really easy!! And i would rather be tan then pale too!!
Reply:i use to go for a tan in a tanning bed, but, you have to check in your area - for spray - on tanning. it works and no cancer scare. no bright lights or sweating. it will get paler in 3 mths. you have to have this done at a tanning place. takes no time to spray your front and back sides. boop
Reply:I have been tanning on and off for the last 3 years and I found that when I started, my greatest source of help was the owner of my tanning salon. She really helped me make sure that I was doing everything correctly and helped me to get the exact look I wanted.

Your first step is to find a reputable tanning salon. Make sure that they clean the beds after each client, are friendly and knowledgeable (If there's a question you ask that they can't answer, then go somewhere else). You'll need to purchase eye protection and lotion. If you tend to have dry skin, you will want to purchase some moisturizing lotion, too. (I use lotions with hemp.)

The amount of time that you will stay in the bed for the first time depends on many thing: how long ago the tanning salon changed the bulbs, what kind of bed they are using (some have more UVA than UVB and that all makes a difference), and how much pigmentation you already have.

Here's a good site that might help answer some of your questions: http://www.californiatan.com/tanning/bas...

Honestly, though, your best bet is to find a good tanning salon and talk to the people that work there. They'll be an invaluable help to you!
Reply:well im very pasty and for the fist couple of times u have to go like everyday for 6 min. to get a base tan then go like everyother or everythree days to keep your glow and u should buy some tanning bed lotion because that helps the tan sink in your skin better if that makes since
