Tanning question.?

ok so my best friend works at a tanning salon and she can get me free tanning.

i have gone once for like 5 mins. but i never went again b/c im scared im gonna get cancer. and my mom doesnt want me to either.

what are your opinions on tanning?

ps. i am 17 and i have freckles and blonde hair. idk if race has anything to do with it. i burn easily.
Tanning question.?
I own a tanning shop and would say if any place is letting you tan if you are under 18 they do not care about your welfare.

Under 18s skin still needs maturing, and tanning ruins it, by the time you are 25 you will just turn into a leather handbag.

They also have no properly advised you on correct tanning times according to your skin type, or tanning accelorators. Stay away!

Correct timing for tanning with light skin: 4 minutes, twice a week for 4 weeks, up it to 6 for a further 4 weeks, then after that a once weekly session of 6 minutes to top it up. All WITH accelorator. I'm only telling you this as there is so much rubbish being put on here, about going on for 15 minutes a time, not because I think an under 18 should be tanning.

And to the total IDIOT saying go on until you burn, then wait til it goes away, I highly highly doubt you even tan properly yourself, let alone manage a salon.

Do NOT listen to that person
Tanning question.?
i recommend you just get a natural tan

go to the beach, its more fun :)
Reply:im 17. blonde and light skinned. i go in fact im about to go today. lol

but i go for 15 min. and so many people do it. i only started because its winter.

you can take percautions and use a protectant spray. if you burn easily i wouldnt go for more than 5 min.

everyone likes a little bit of color. and i know people are going to thumbs me down because i tan and its bad but im just being honest with you

my parents dont like me tanning either.
Reply:I think u should just get the mystic tan.......It works great plus u won't get skin cancer

Hope I helped!!!!!
Reply:tanning is completely safe.

alot of people will say it isnt, because they havent researched it.

since you have fair skin, and burn easily.

start off for about 3 to 5 minutes for the first week,

and then slowly move up.

and make sure you use a tanning lotion.!!!

they help make the tan stay and help you from damaging you skin.

i have researched alot about tanning beds., and am now very familiar with the fact and the myths of it.and how it works.

if you would like to research more check out this website

or email me for any questions.!!

also some people will say to get a spray tan, which in some cases may work.but after a week, it tends to come off.

and you can tell where it comes off and where it is still on.!

hope i helped.=]
Reply:if it is just a level one regular bed, then staywith the 5 mins.

if you dont burn then the next time you go try 8 mins, an so on... if you burn.. wait til the burn goes away and back down your time... you will be tan in no time! :)
Reply:I know everyone on here is going to say how horrible it is. And tanning is pretty bad. I know someone in there twenties who has the worst type of skin cancer, and they got it from tanning.

It really depends on the circumstances. Some people go once or twice, and are fine and look great. Some people get "addicted" to it and how they look, and end up having skin cancer.

Personally, if you want to go once for the prom, senior graduation, or a wedding, sure. I think its fine. Although, I wouldn't go to just be tan at school. Stick to special occasions.
Reply:It is better to get a natural tan, because most of the time after burning you tan even if not a lot.

Besides there is nothing wrong with being pale.

I would rather be pale then fake a tan.

I don't think most fake tans give you cancer, but it is deffinatly not healthy for your skin.
Reply:Tanning is not safe. Overexposure to the UVA/UVB rays in general is not safe! Even if it's for a couple minutes, only a couple times a week, over time it builds up and ends up negatively affecting your skin.

Sure, you'll have gorgeously tanned skin now, but wait until your older. Ever seen one of those middle-aged women with skin that looks leathery and wrinkled? That's because they spent too much time trying to get tan when they were younger.

I have fair skin, freckles, red hair, and green eyes. This puts me at high risk for skin cancer (and it's in my family) so I'm really careful. Typically people who have fair skin, freckles, lighter hair color, blue or green eyes, and a history of it in their families have a higher risk of getting cancer.

If you want to be tan, try a spray tan or a tanning cream. If you over-do it, you look orange, but if you use it wisely, you get the exact look! I used it over the summer, and I was just as tan as the rest of my friends who spent their time out in the sun. Works great for me!
