I'm fifteen. I'm pale, and It's almost impossible for me to tan. It's winter now, and obviously, I can't go out and tan. I'm resorting to tanning beds.
I only want a little color, I don't want to be BROWN.
I mainly want to know what the price is. How many times will I have to go to achieve some color, usually?
(Don't tell me about how It's harmful to me, I could honestly care less.)
Tanning bed questions...?
Just start out slowly at first. I would go for a very short period of time so you don't burn to a crisp. Also, money wise it is all so different. Buy a package deal, it's way cheaper in the long run.
He he you look like your avatar
Tanning bed questions...?
DON'T GO!!! Instead use the tanning lotions. They work better and won't damage your skin.
Reply:that's really really sad that you just said you could care less about your well-being.
and that's all i have to say about that.
Reply:well ok this is what you should do there are tanning oils that you buy at publix you can put some on and it makes you brown not orange I love the stuff you dont even have to go outside just make sure to put A LOT on all over you body!!!
Reply:tanning beds have been proven to be safer than going out in the sun... from what i've read anyhow. i am irish, so i know what you're going through. where i am from, it's about $5 each time you tan. you should put some tanning oil on, tan for no more than 10 minutes, and do it at least once or twice a week and you will see a difference shortly.
Reply:well if u dont tan well to begin with, then tanning beds wont work...
Reply:Places have specials, it depends where you live and how many places are in your area. i just bought a package casue im going on vacation and it was 40 for 40 regular bed visits. another pack is 18 for 3 facial beds and 3 regulars. depends what you want! lotion is generally 30-100 a bottle.
Reply:where I live I get 10 sessions for $35, but that varies depending on where you live.
You will likely see a little pink after a couple sessions, maybe three. Once you get the color you want, you will have to return to the tanning booth about once a week to maintain your color.
I feel your pain...I'm naturally so pale I'm translucent!
Reply:It depends on the beds. Different beds have different burning rays depending on the type bulbs that are in there. What's usually the case is the quicker the tan, the higher cost per visit for that particular bed as those beds tend to cost more to purchase and people won't need to tan as much to get color.
Go out to different ones and compare prices or look online.
Ask them how often they change the bulbs too and the last time they changed them. If they are new bulbs, it is more effective than old bulbs.
Ask the owner of the tanning salon about your color and what they recommend instead of the hired low cost help who probably doesn't know all that much.
Reply:If you could careless then I can go ahead an tell you. Usually my fiancee will go about 3 to 4 times a week being every other day. I would not start out going out every day of the week because your skin complexion is not very dark as you describe.
It really depends on how much you can obsorb the UV Light. I am sort of darker complexion and to get where you are talking about would take me about a week. I would say that you would receive great results after two weeks at 3 to 4 times a week.
THe cost varies with where you live and where you go. Around here you can get memberships that are 19.99 a month for three months or you can get 30 Month unlimited tanning package.
I hope this helps!
Reply:I am going to tell you anyway, it is harmful to your skin. With your coloring, you are probably more susceptible to skin cancer. Just learn to love yourself for what you are. Nicole Kidman is pale and gorgeous--so just dont do it.
Reply:So...you are willing to pay the price of probably getting skin cancer just to be a little darker? Are you serious?
I would rather be pale then lose all my hair and be sick while going through treatments of skin cancer.....its a horrid death, trust me.
If you really want to get darker...spend more time outside during the summer!
Also, get a tan spray...you just spray it to your skin.
Whats so bad about being pale anyways?
Thanks for posting, I hope I was able to answer your question :D
Reply:It costs me $40 a month and I usually go a month.
Reply:i used to go to tanning beds cause iam pale to , they startet me out with 7 minutes and as i went higher and higher up to an half an hr bebause thats all they allow you, but i found a tanning bed that is called the eurobed you can get in there 30 minutes and dont burn, i dont know what the differents is but its true i did not burn and i went there alle time and it cost me 7 dollars for 30 minutes. good luck
Reply:dnt get sunbeds they cause skin cancer. i wuld rather have an uneven tan than be ill with cancer nd u shuld care. If u wna damage ur health do it. They r roughly 50p a min. Its ur choice buh im warning u it aint worth it. I hope u make the right choice x
Reply:do you mean " you couldn't care less "because you have said you could care less . Yes they are harmful but if your not worried then go for it. you will need to go at least three times a week and prices vary . why don't you go to a spray tanning clinic ,St tropas products are great and once you have had a proffesional spray that lasts about a week ,you yourself can buy the product and keep up to it every 5 or 6 days and the look is as light or brown as you want it to be
Reply:You should call around to the different tanning salons and ask if they have different beds for a certain degree of tanning you want. You will have to build it up slowly since you are of pale complexion.
There will be great discounts this time of year for visits and I'd think about the 3 month plan,6 month plan or the year long membership. All will likely have to be paid in full when you sign the contract.
In my area of north Ga, USA it's $3-5.00 per visit %26amp; thats more costly that purchasing a membership. Altho you may sign up for a membership---you only go when you want to go. The first 2 weeks you'll need to go probably each day then you will slack it off to 1-3 visits a week.
A years membership cost should be on sale now, so do check the prices, write them down, date it %26amp; ask who you are speaking with--write their name down so your pricing is documented when you visit the salon.
Good Luck
Reply:It really depends on where you live on how much you are going to pay. I live in north Texas %26amp; have paid any where from $20-$50 for a month of tanning...It will probably take you about a week to actually see some color %26amp; a month to have a good base tan. Take it easy though, you said that you are pale so you dont want to burn because then you wont have a good tan %26amp; you will just peel. So make sure you get a good lotion %26amp; only go for a few mintues the 1st week. Then only go up a few mintues after that. The tanning consultant should be able to help you with every thing %26amp; answer any more questions you might have. I hope this helps! Good Luck :)
Reply:Dear Ms. Sychotic,
Since you are justified in not caring about the possible effects of tanning artificially,I would suggest the following regimen: On your first visit spend no more than two hours in the "booth". On your second visit increase this time to three hours. Add an hour each time you visit until you are averaging 7 hours a day. This will result in a healthy tan that will stay with you forever. You are right not to concern yourself with the possible injury this could cause. At your age you have all the time in the world to heal and any damage it may cause is entirely reversible. In my case, I have just completed my 59Th skin graft and I already can see my eyes again. My Doctors tell me if no more lesions pop up between now and New Years, I can start Junior High as scheduled. Do you have good health insurance?
Reply:Most tanning places won't allow anyone under 16 to use the beds (at least where I'm from). If they do allow you to use the beds, here's what you should expect...
1. Use a tanning lotion without bronzer or accellerant. I recommend something that says cooling on it.
2. Start out slow...it usually takes at least 3 times before you see results, depending on how fast you normally tan.
3. The first few times you go you should start with about 5 minutes and gradually increase each time you go (usually by 2 minutes each time)
4. The first time you go, you might get burned. It can take about a half an hour after tanning to see or feel the results. When your done tanning, I recommend taking a shower to wash off the lotion, then putting on lotion with aloe to prevent or reduce burning.
5. After a couple of weeks, depending on how often you tan, you will build a base tan. After that, you don't have to tan as often or for as long.
The thing I like about tanning is how relaxing it is. I know people complain about how bad tanning is, but it can have some good effects too. It can help clear up acne, and reduce muscle tension. One thing to remember to do before you get in the tanning bed is to make sure it is clean. I always clean it before and after I use it. But most of all, enjoy it!
Reply:i don't know how expensive it is but i do knoe the most expensive are the best so if it seems a little over budget don't worry just think well i'm not a cheapo!
Reply:If you are pale then you need to start off by going three days a week, Mon, Wed, and Fri 8 mins. If you do not burn move up to 10 mins for the same days. If you do not burn then move up to 12. Keep doing this until you reach 20 which is the max time allowed. Only go three days a week so you dont burn also this allows your skin to tan much faster. You should see results in a couple of weeks and have a good base tan in a month. Make sure to keep you skin moist, dry skin does not tan as fast. You a good indoor tanning lotion before tanning and then a after care lotion after tanning and showers. Good luck and happy tanning:-)
Reply:So I'm the manager of franchised tanning salon and I get your exact question EVERY DAY. . .
First off...to tan in most states you have to be 18 or older. Any younger and you'll have to get written parental consent.
Second...I get clients every day telling me it's impossible for them to tan. And every day I tell them that it's never impossible, it'll just be a slower process. You're skin simply doesn't respond to the UV rays as quickly as other peoples.
The browning of skin is created by the act of Melanocytes being prompted to produce additional melanin whenever ultraviolet light waves touch them, thereby making the skin darker to protect the body from additional exposure. (from TanningTruth.com)
I would start you out in a High Performace bed (120 watts with facial lamps). There is a difference between HPs and Base beds...don't buy into base beds (100 watts without facials)...you're tanning process will never yield results that way.
Buy a monthly package (either 1 month, 2, 3 or whatever you're willing to spend the cash for...you'll need a few visits to see a difference and then regular catch up visits to maintain color). For a specific tanning schedule start going in every day to every other day at first. Go in pretty regularly for the first few weeks. Then once you get to a shade that you start to like back down to 3 or 4 visits then down to 2 or 3 a week. Any educated and well trained tanning consultant should be able to help you figure out a proper schedule without burning you.
Prices vary from salon to salon. There monthly payment packages with down payments and there are options to buy the whole package at once. At my store one month in a high performance bed is $69 and one year is $250. Since you're fifteen I'm not sure of what kind of money you're able to spend or if your parents would help you. It's a great after Christmas present! lol Or if you're birthday is coming up there's always that angle.
And use LOTION. It lets your skin live up to it's full tanning potential. Without it your skin with dry out and flake off faster, therefore your tan will fade quicker and your skin will look dull. Designer Skin is one of the better brands but still fairly affordable. Like glitter? (you're 15 I'm just guessing. lol) Neurotic is amazing. It's a shimmer bronzer so you get the instant gratification of color along with glitter and it smells amazing, you don't smell like you've been cooked once you get out of the bed.
Hope I helped!
