i usually go to the tanning beds about two times a week(tuesday and friday) and sometimes i tan outside for about 30mins(rarely)........im kind of scared that i might get skin cancer because ive been reading up on some stuff and now im kind of worried.......should i be tanning less that two times a week?(by the way, i use a 12 min stand up bed)
Tanning.......how many times a week is safe?
Well, I used to work in a tanning salon, and we would not allow our clients to go everyday as some salons do. When you first start out, you should only go 10 mins. depending on how you take to the sun. It also depends on the intensity of the beds. If it is strong, then only go with what you were doing.
My personal style is, when I start out in a medium intensity bed for 10 mins. Then once my skin has finished burning from the beds (very sensitive to the sun), I then go for 20 mins. a day usually every day until I get that colour I want.
For the normal stand-up beds in my area, people are only allowed maximum time of 10 mins. So you are already doing two mins. over what you could here. Everyone says that tanning booths cause skin cancer, but if you really do your research the tanning beds are better than the real sun.
Since you are going twice a week, that is perfect....if you want to go more, go. If you want to go less...then don't.
Tanning.......how many times a week is safe?
all tanning salons are bad and they can give you skincancer. my mom got skin cancer from a taning salon and she got rid of it but it keeps comming back Report It
Reply:use sun screen and when you go outside wear a hat.. otherwise your good [=
Reply:coming from a medical stand point 1 time a week is too many
Reply:It's so much safer to use bronzing lotions and they work nicely.
Reply:Skip the tanning bed and find a place that does spray on tans. Why risk it?
Reply:0 times a week is safe. Given that fact that you do go to a tanning bed tells me your skin is so fair that you feel the need to regularly tan it. If you go 2 times a month I would give you an 80% chance of developing skin cancer.
Reply:Zero. Be happy with your natural skin tone. Tanning is unhealthy and ages you very fast.
Reply:DON'T TAN AT ALL!!!!! Tanning beds have been proven to cause skin cancer and other such diseases! They are even worse than real tanning outside! The best way to avoid this is to stop using tanning beds at all, and depending on how long you've been using them, start getting skin cancer screenings with a dermatologist.
By the way, you can use self-tanner for a safe glow. Jergens Daily Moisturizer with a subtle self tanner is really good.
Reply:Tanning is the worst thing you can do for your skin period. No times a week the amount of time you should be tanning especially if you are young. Ultra violet rays damage your skin, thus if you continue to use tanning you are sure to look like a NFL foot ball in 5 years.
Reply:i tan too, i keep it at a 1 week basis. its a horrible idea to go tanning outdoors directly after you have been under lights. i know you didn't say that but just a reminder.
Reply:only do natural suntans cause they proved that going on a tanning bed to much can cause skin cancer.
Reply:0 times a week is safe
Reply:Don't do it you'll get wrinkles!
Reply:tanning is almost always not compleatly safe. Not only is it very damaging to skin, it's also very damaging to your hair, your immune system, and even make your skin age faster.
Also the type of skin cancer you get from this is Malignant melanoma, one of the Deadliest cancers (by %) after lung cancer with an estimated 38,300 cases and 7,300 deaths anticipated this year. The aging caused by tanning is also delayed, so you may not notice it right away.
The best thing to do is to be happy with what you have and live a happy life :D
Reply:In a few years you won't even make a nice piece of luggage!
Reply:The answer is 0, zero, zed, negative and it's never safe. Having said that ...be careful.

Reply:Good question.
I go to the tanning bed also. I was going three times a week for a month. Now I go once every two weeks. I keep my face and neck covered. It seems to be keeping my color well. I do go outside alot but I hate tan lines.
As for not getting skin cancer, I'm not sure if there really is any answer on how much tanning we shouldn't do to avoid it. I believe that everyone's body and skin reacts differently. I do know someone who has been using tanning beds for 5 yrs + and she does not have skin cancer but that doesn't mean I won't develop it. I do know this much though, she looks at least 8 yrs older than her age from it. That scares me itself.
I hope someone else has a better answer to this question than me!
Reply:Tanning Beds are disgusting, and will give you melanoma.
Watch Final Destination 3 hun...
Reply:Zero, you should be scared and stop doing it healthy skin is in.
