Tanning Beds?

What happens when you go to a tanning salon? I haven't ever gone to one and I want to know what is going to happen? I have average skin I tan and i don't burn easily. What am i supposed to say if they ask me questions? Do you have to choose your shade or something? How long should I tan?

Sorry that I have so many questions, but i need to know. Thank-you much.
Tanning Beds?
From what I've heard, you really shouldn't tan using a tanning bed, as the UV light produced in them can be greater than what you get from the sun in some cases. Usually you should get about 30 minutes of sun to produce your daily amount of vitamin D.

Something else you need to consider, usually, people who tan wear sun glasses. Your optic nerve is actually linked to the tanning mechanisms of your body and wearing sunglasses hinders that mechanism. If you really want to tan, you have to do so without sunglasses on, in fact there's some research saying that exposing the eyes to UV light may cause a tan. Tanning Beds?
they are better for you than going in the sun, seriousley.
Reply:They have you fill out a form that's a mile long about your skin type so they make sure you don't burn yourself and sue them. Of course, tanning makes you look like a leather saddle when you get older, but, hey, go ahead.
Reply:DONT DO IT!! its so bad for. you have no idea. it gives you cancer, if you really want to get tan, just use a lotion like Jergens natural glow or California Sun, and theres plenty others. Just dont go into a tanning bed :D
Reply:dont tan, there is nothing wrong with people who are paler.
Reply:No tanning at all unless you want cancer. Plus, its obvious that you're tanning and trying too hard.
Reply:I just did one set of 3 sessions with indoor tanning cream and it was awesome...I got much darker as if I was on Miami Beach tanning in the sun for a whole afternoon.
Reply:Basically you walk-in tell them how long you want to tan...to start off you first 3 to 4 times go for about 10-15 min. Using a basic medium to dark tanning lotion, flip about every 5 min to help from getting burned.., and after about u first week if you haven't burned any you may move up to 20 min...then by your 3rd week you can use a darker tanning lotion to help keep your tan even longer...and can go for 30 min....enjoy you lovely tan...
Reply:be real careful when you go tanning. You can burn yo azz if yo are not careful :)

Most places have a timer on the beds/booths so you don't have to worry about over baking :)

Start off slow and let your body get used to it ! !

It will take time before you see results and use some type of moisturizer after you get home.

You can get as dark as you like but remember tanning is really damaging you skin.

I go during the winter time and get alot of looks at the beach while the rest are starting their tan during the summer.

I prefer an "even tan" know what I mean ; )
Reply:Stay out of the tanning beds!! I lost a toe and all the lymph nodes in my groin, because I wanted to look good when i was younger. These beds are so dangerous and to the person who said they are safer than the sun -- you are so wrong!!
Reply:Depends, my mom owns a shop and she has you fill out a sheet front and back, like if you go out in the sun, do you tan easy, have you ever had a bad burn, if your on medication that could effect the tan. Answer the questions if tthey ask honestly. You don't chose your shade, but they'll probably start you out slowly and work you up for longer in the beds.

Tanning really isn't safer then the sun though, I'd advise not to tan, I don't, it's safer to go out with sunscreen on, you still get some sun.
Reply:dont tan it can cause skin cancer. or if u do, do it under the sun
