I am very fair skinned. I've tried laying out with and without lotions. Right now I'm trying oil sheen, which just burns me. I have been to the tanning bed several times, using a bronzer, which helps a little, but not much. I've also used sunless tanners, which don't do anything but streak. I used Jergen's Natural Glow, that didn't work, either. I've done all of these things with patience, and have given it time to work, but I still am just as white. I really don't know what to do. I'm so self-conscious! I wanted so badly to go to the river with 2 of my friends yesterday, but I had to say no. I just really hate being this white. Any suggestions?
Tanning...?
I'm a super fair red head with freckles. I even tried to get my freckles to join together as a kid (it doesn't work). I suggest that the only real way to get a good overall color is to be spray tanned at a reputable salon. Otherwise, you orther option is to learn to be happy with yourself the way you are. I know it sounds cheesy but I have always burned and as a result avoided the sun. Now, at 39 I do have some underlying sun damage (I had an infrared picture taken) despite my years of avoidance. Despite that, if you met me, you would guess that I am in my late 20's. My skin looks great. Now, all those tanned beauties I envied in high school are wrinkled old prunes. It was simply SHOCKING at my 10 year reunion (I didn't go to the 20). You would not have thought we are all the same age. So, being white is not all bad. Plus, I have found that there are a whole group of men out there than love us lily white red headed women. You are beautiful too, just in a different way from your tanned friends.
Tanning...?
Mystic Tanning. You go in a stall and it sprays you. It doesn't streak like the other self tanners. Most tanning places have it available. It doesn't involve sun so you won't burn.
Reply:have you tried the dove at home lotion?
can't think what i's called but it builds a gradual tan.
my sister lives off it! :]
Reply:GO BUY SWEEDISH BEAUTY DIAMOND, IT HAS A TINGLE FACTOR OF 5, BUT IM FAIR SKINNED ALSO AND A LITTLE BURNING WHILE I TAN IS THE ONLY WAY I GET TANNED. U CAN DO IT!
Reply:I use dove gradual tan and it works great. It doesnt streak if you put it on even and it looks pretty natural. Or you could try a spray on but those are pretty drastic. Or try using a sunscreen with a low spf and lay out in the sun for short periods every day so it will gradually give you some color without burning you.
Reply:Use a high powered bed and use a lotion with a tingle factor...I spent hundreds of dollars on tanning bed visits, lotions, spray on tans, you name it but I did not really get any results until I used a high powered bed and started using lotions with tingle factor (the higher the tingle factor the more the burn/color). The ones which contain tingle factor and bronzer seem to give the best results. You can get them at your tanning salon, they vary in price and the best types are expensive so see if they have sample size packets to try before you buy a bottle.
Reply:Well, I know a grandma recipe and if you have tried all that, try this it might work.
Sweet orange,( not lime or any other citrus fruits because those would burn your skin), use the juice of the orange like a lotion and expose your self to the sun and there it goes.
Also spray your self with coca-cola, this is a little stickier, but as well effective.
Either of the methods will work just try them and see.
