I am going to hawaii in about a week, I don鈥檛 want to go out there looking like casper the friendly ghost, I live in an area where there is not a lot of sun. So I thought a tanning bed would be great. I need to get a nice tan in about a week, how is the best way to do it in the tanning bed?? I have really fair sensitive skin. What types of lotions should I use and how long should I go. For example like the first day 5 min, the second day 7 mins and so on?? I don鈥檛 want to get burnt! Thanks for all your help!!
Tanning questions!!!!! need help!!!?
It is perfectly fine for you to tan every day at a salon. If you are fair skin start with a 7 minut bed after you've gotten a base tan move on to the 13 minute beds for a week and once you are dark enough then you are okay. Tanning is not as bad as people say so dont buy that load of crap. Tanning smart helps you reduce sunburn.. and what causes skin cancer ??? SUNBURN.. people just talk about how bad it is b/c they are uneducated on the subject.. here check out this site it will give you information on safe tanning http://www.tanningtruth.com/ . Talk to someone at your salon about how many minuts they think you should do because i dont know your skin type and they will be able to give you all of that information. Good Luck and have fun in hawaii

u do realize how many people on here are gunna tell u how bad tanning is right...ok just checking. if uve never tanned before u shouldnt go every day u will most likely burn ir u are really pale. u generally cant use sunscreen because it damages the inside of the tanning bed. they sell lotions u can use at the salons but they can be pricey. u should start off going for 5 min and see how u do with that. gradually go up by 1 min if u dont burn but if u do burn u need to go in for less time obv. u will not be able to get a dark tan in 1 week of tanning because u shouldnt be going everyday to begin with but u will build a base tan so u dont get super fried in hawaii. use bronzer and sunless tanning lotions as well as tanning..thats what i do and i dont have to use beds often to keep the tan i have..i use trueblue spa sunless tanner from bath and body works..its the best!! it doesnt make u orange and it doesnt smell like @ss like most sunless tanners do!!

Girls who go tanning, questionnnn...?
P.S. Those of you who want to preach about not going to a tanning salon, don't waste your time. Thanks.
P.P.S. Don't recommend self tanners, I've used them and they are a hassle.
ANYWAYS:
I am very fair and want to go tanning to develop some color. I don't want to be orange a la Pamela Anderson or Paris Hilton. I just want to be a little bit darker and have glowy skin. I hate how pale I look in the summer when I go swimming, especially my legs. Icky.
I don't tan easily...
so MY QUESTION IS how often would I need to go tanning to keep my light tan and how long would it take to develop it in the first place?!?
THANK YOU!
Girls who go tanning, questionnnn...?
you need to start out slow since you have fair skin. You should probably go every other day for a couple weeks to get a base tan and then every 2 or 3 days after that to keep it. The only reason why those people turn orange is bc they go everyday of the year and use those dark tanning lotions...
As long as you don't do that, you should have a nice color to ya...
Girls who go tanning, questionnnn...?
I go twice every week. after going 3 times I saw results.
Reply:WELL....
When I went to PEI I tanned every day for 3 days for about 20 minutes. by the end of the third day, I was a light light light brown, so I tried one more day and this time I added 10 more minutes, so I tanned for 30 minutes. This left me with a light and gorgeous brown. It works for me every time!
Reply:i would say 2 or 3x a week...%26amp; about 3-4 weeks to develop a good color...
Reply:ok well start out slow do 3 times a week.and dont stay in for to long because it can be to harsh. i started out at 10 minutes and then add some time. then u will get a great tan that will last a while and look good
Reply:Hey, I just read your Question.
This isn't actually my account but I noticed your question while my sister was on here. I work in a tanning salon, and I know quite a bit about it. I understand that you don't want to try self tanners, as many of them do make you go orange. There is a self tanner bed called "california tan's UV free tan". It's really good and goes by level of height rather than choosing what colour you want to be. It goes on by level of height so that it sprays the correct amount of solution onto your skin, making you 2-3 shades darker, rather than getting too much on your skin and turning orange.
If you would still rather not go the "spray tan" route, you should check out different tanning salons in your area. Some tanning salons offer "bronzing" tanning beds. They have a higher concentration of UV-B rays, making you more brown, instead of a higher amount of UV-A which tends to make you get a reddish colour to your skin. The bronzing beds are usually a little more pricey than regular beds, but the outcome is much better and you won't have to tan as much, costing you less in the long run.
To develop a base it usually takes between 5-10 sessions, and to keep that up you should go about every 1-2 weeks. Just so you're aware, you shouldn't tan every day and should tan every other day instead to avoid over-exposure occuring in your skin. Another thing that will speed up the process of your tan is to get a good lotion. California Tan makes the best lotions as they boost your tan, and have active skincare ingredients in them as well. Try an indoor tanning lotion that has a bronzer in it for immediate results. I suggest California Tan's "Karma Sutra" line, or the "Dark Sexy Tan" line. They're both really good lotions and should get you to your tanning destination very shortly.
I hope it works out well for you sweety. :)

I need a tan!! Tanning bed or Creams?
I usually get one from working in the yard, but it's rained for days and days. My tan is fading and I am going on a fishing trip in a month. What can I do to get a tan. Tanning bed? Tanning cream? Which is best? Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed.
I need a tan!! Tanning bed or Creams?
You should use a tanning cream. The best way is to go to a tanning salon that offers the spray on tan. Not only are you saving your skin from cancer but also you won't get wrinkles so young as you age. Good luck.

get a spray tan from the tanning place
Reply:banna boat self tanner
Reply:you dont need a tan. tans are a risk of skin cancer. just like who you are the way you are already.
Reply:spray tans becuz that ages the skin
i know im black how would i know becuz i have white friends who have been tanning since freshmean year and now its senior yr and they look like they r in there 30s
Reply:how but don't get a tan you will have tan lines, tanning bed is bad for your skin just wait out the rain, you'll be happy ot rains because it ain't raining here and it is fricken hot
Reply:Depends on if you want possible cancer and wrinkled skin when you get older. If you dont care...then tanning bed.
There are some great tanning creams out there that wont leave you orange. Jergens medium tan works great for lighter and dark skin without the orange. Just make sure you exfoliate your skin to death before using it or you can have darker areas where you have more dead skin....like your ankles, hands, knees and elbows!
Reply:Do you want to get cancer? Are you just asking for it?
Dont go to a tanning bed. Its just as bad as sun bathing.
You can use a cream, but they get streaky or become uneven.
Get a spray on, but not like Ross on Friends, a hand one.
A professional will do it. Go in a bra and underwere and they will spray it on you. it looks natural, last longer, safer, and it doesnt cost to much more.
Good Luck! Hoped i helped !
Reply:I've tried all three and I would recommend a spray tan any day.I've tried going to a tanning salon a few times, but each time I've gone, my skin has been really itchy for a couple of days afterwards.
With a cream you need to be able to put on evenly, which can be really hard especially aroundthe elbows, knees etc and if you put too much on one spot you really can notice it and become that orange colour.
I would recommended the spray tan, cause it's a lot cheaper then going to a sun bed, and it is so quick and easy not to mention easy. Also the beauician can recommened what colour exactly will suit you too.
Reply:wait for it to stop raining because its safer to buy creams and tan at the beach or at you lawn
Reply:I wouldn't use a tanning bed, cuz your skin can get really wrinkley when your older. Maybe a spray like some other answerer said or cream. Or use a lotion like Jergens natural skin tan.
Reply:Tanning beds work really well, but I think its better to use tanning creams because then you don't have the risk of skin cancer. Tanning creams can also work really well (almost as good as tanning beds.)
But, whatever you do DONT get a spray on. My sister got one and she looked like a pumpkin. Then when she went outside, it melted off.

TANNING SALON...how do i avoid being orange?
what can i do 2 make sure i dont come out orange or burnt....this is my first time tanning...i have pale skin and just want a base tan...i tend to break out too (not from tanning just in general)...i usually only burn on my cheeks and nose naturally....any other tips would be great!! THANKS
TANNING SALON...how do i avoid being orange?
Tanning booths do not turn you orange, because they are closer to natural tanning, and your salon should have a test spray tan for first timers. They spray an area of your body which is not noticeable, but not dangerous for you, like your wrist or maybe the inside of your thigh. You can get a variety of colors with spray tanning, and it doesn't leave stripes or spots on your skin afterwards. If you like the color from the test, you can get full body spray tans in that color.
TANNING SALON...how do i avoid being orange?
You have to start out gradually and make sure you buy a decent lotion. You get what you pay for.
Reply:At the tanning place they will try to sell you a "bronzing lotion" if your pale, then you dont want this, your skin will turn out uneven with brownish orange splotches all over, Get a level one lotion W/ NO BRONZER or NIACIN, tell them you just want a level 1 lotion, And only go in the bed for about 5 minutes and do this about 2-3 times a week and eventually up your minutes, you will have a very natural look in about 3 weeks.
Reply:if you are fair skinned, only tan for a few minutes (like 5 or 6) talk to the person who works there and ask what he or she suggests. Sometimes they have new bulbs in the beds, and you will need to adjust your time accordingly. If you go for 6 minutes once a week for two or three weeks you can safely build a base tan.
I go once a week, and I usually will cover my face with a towel or my shirt for the first few minutes I am in the bed, that way you get the max time on the rest of your body without over exposing your face.
Also, don't use tanning lotion on your face if you break out.
Reply:use tanning accelerators with sunscreen and don't stay in too long the first time GO SLOW

Is there a tanning lotion that really works and one that won't stain your clothes directly after tanning?
I'm looking for a tanning lotion that doesn't leave a stain on the tanning towel or my clothes after my tanning session. Obviously because when I go to a tanning salon I can't wait very long to get into my clothes, and I don't want to ruin their towels. I recently purchased a Tattoo brand one, but have yet to try it since it hasn't come in the mail yet. I'm looking for other options incase this one doesn't work out, since I forgot about stains when I purchased it.
Thank you!

i'm not sure about tanning lotion. but i heard that sally hansen spray stuff is really good and doesn't stain much at all. or try tanning beds! =]
Reply:I use good ol' cocoa butter. It's great for after tanning. And makes you smell like a cookie!
Hope that helps.

Tanning while on concerta?
my daughter is taking concerta 36mg a day. her doctor said that she needs to go to a tanning bed to help with her mood swings. I have never heard of a doctor telling somebody to go to a tanning bed especially when they are on a medication. should I make her a tanning appointment she is only 11 years old
Tanning while on concerta?
Actually the UV lighting increases the production of melanin, which can indeed improve your daughter's mood. If you're worried about the tanning aspects though, you could try getting her an OTT lamp (available at department stores) or an all-natural light lamp that provides rays similar to the sun outdoors.
Tanning while on concerta?
no i wouldnt. i would consult another doctor. because tanning does not help with mood swings. so call around and ask a couple doctors their oppinions. especially if she's 11.
