Tanning in sun and artificially?

Which is worse, sun tanning or going to a tanning bed? How can I convince my girlfriend that tanning in general is bad for you?

Actually, the UV rays from a tanning bed are worse than the natural sun (and you are putting your body much closer in the tanning bed). Try Googling melanoma, and showing her the pics. I used to live in FL, and people used to think I was underage (I'm in my 30s), b/c I don't have sun damage. Man, looking at some of those people will have you RUNNING for the sunscreen! Maybe you can buy her a bottle of Jergens Natural GLow (self-tanner), and apply it for her. Make it really nice-spread out an old towel, light some candles, put on music, get her a glass of wine, and go for it. It's really easy, and pretty foolproof. The Jergens Glow Face even has SPF 20 now, so she can be tan and protected, too.

tanning beds are worse for you as they use far stronger uvB radiation. you can't do much except tell her how awful she'll look when she's old. and you can try convincing her she looks better w/o one to you.

Doctors are finding skin cancer in patients in their early to mid twenties because of the tanning bed trend. also let her know this will make her look much older and her skin will be thick and splotchy. No amount of botox will fix that as it is not what it is for. Tell her to get spray tanned if she wants the tanned look. Her skin and health will thank her in the upcoming years.

Reply:This Mays addition of Allure was focused on skin cancer awareness. Just buy the magazine and let it do the talking for you. You cant convince somone to quit unhealty behavior- they have to make that decision by themselves. Just tell her you want her to make an informed decision, and then let it go. You can only do so much.
Reply:I am a girl and i know from exprience that thy will want to be tan I also know that my parents are doctors and show me pictures of people with skin cancer as a result of tanning. if you go to google.com type in skin cancer from tanning on the images box and show them to her it may change her opinion and if not make sure that when sheis xposed to sun or uv rays to put sunscreen on every hour to try to prevent it as much as possible. DID THAT HELP?
Reply:there both probably the same because the sun has been getting worse because the UV rays are getting stronger. And the tanning beds UV rays r very strong any ways.
Reply:tanning beds r WAY worse than just laying out in the sun tell your gf that its bad and it will make her ugly and give her wrinkles and maybe do sum reasearch and show her sum bad pictures to gross her out or u can just tell her its bad and if she still doesnt lisien just ignore it ,it is her business but she shouldnt go tanning GOOD LUCK
